Who has added a rear receiver hitch to their Crusader?

Hi. My Crusader 295rst is now one year old. I am thinking about triple towing a small Haulmark utility trail for art shows. The Haulmark gvwr is 2900#. TV is rated 18k# on a fiver.
My concern is the added rear hitch. I'm using the shop my dealer recommend. They do quite a few of these receivers.

Who has added a hitch, have you had problems and was your hitch welded in or bolt on.
Thanks

Added info. The shop that would do the work mentioned they will tie in almost to the rear axle. This is not a bumper hitch.

I have one on our Wildcat. I tow a decent sized BBQ pit more often than not. I haven't had any trouble. I added a cheap PEAK backup camera wired into the lights so I can keep an eye on tires and such. Its mounted under the rear bumper of the Wildcat. The ratio around here would lean pretty strong toward campers with hitches pulling boats.

I was told that bolting on is better than welding because the welding compromises the integrity of the frame

Do you know if yours is welded on or bolted on?

I had a welded hitch receiver added to my Crusader Lite 27RK through the dealers certified and approved hitch shop. It has been rated for 400lbs of cargo weight or tongue weight and for 1000lbs towing.

So far no issues at all, but you should make sure that whatever solution you choose is approved by manufacturer(s) to prevent future headaches. You're dealer can work with you on that. If you bought private sale, you will have to do the leg work.

Thanks for the info. I am using the welder who was recommended by my dealer. Since I go out if warranty in 10 days, the mfg wouldn't cover anyway. The hitch is tied back 36-42" and has two cross members. Both cross members will be gusseted in. Verbal on 400# tongue wr and 4000 gvr.

I guess Colo allows this type of towing? Lot of states do not. Later RJD

Yes. Most western states do. Calif requires a commercial license, none in Washington. We will be mostly Colorado, Kansas and Arizona.
