Gave up on the Serta(which is owned by Warren Buffett) after a year. Sold it to a student for $75. Bought a "house" size queen foam mattress from WM.com for less than $400. It is actually better than the TemperPedic we have in the s/b home! It just fits when the slide is pulled in.

Maybe we are unique, but I find the mattress in our Crusader not all that bad. We did add a heated mattress pad, but that is paper thin and used for winter camping. I am not a fan of the RV sized as my feet hang over sometimes but I don't find it all that uncomfortable. I am often so tired when we are using the rig that I collapse into bed anyway.

We never slept one night on the factory mattress by itself. Went to Costco and purchased their queen sized memory foam add on pad. I guess it's about 4" thick. Width was correct but was about 6" too long. Marked it off and trimmed it down with my ultra sharp filleting knife, then replaced back in it's cover. At 6'1 and 5'11 we still find the length fine. We sleep well..

Mattress Solution

Our new Mirada touted a "luxury" Sealy mattress. Not so much.....We live in Oregon. Went to our local mattress store and ask if any of thei mattresses could be custom ordered and cut. Turns out that a nearby manufacterer (Engelander) could custo cut to a short queen and deliver in a week. Ok, it was expensive (just over $500) but had a Eurotop and mimicked our home mattress. Since we will be using the MH 2-3 months out of the year, we thought it was a good investment for our old backs. I will bet your local mattress store has a company that will make a short queen for you.
