Winterizing

We just camped for the last time this season and are ready to winterize. One question though. After you have winterized do you let the pressure off the lines by cracking a valve or do you leave the pressure on the lines.

It doesn't matter either way. Just make sure you pump the pink stuff sufficiently throughout the system to displace the water.

I always have opened a tap for a second just to release the pressure, but I do that every time I return it to storage, not just when winterized.

It probably doesn't matter either way but-- I'd rather have my system
under as little stress as possible during those bitter cold winter nights
so I try to remember to let the pressure off or mostly off as the last thing
when I'm winterizing.

Winterizing....what a concept!!!

I say the same thing to my motorcycle riding friends who live in the snow too.....

I winterized mine last night, with RV antifreeze, using the port specifically made to draw it in. I made sure the RV antifreeze came out each faucet and the low point drain valves and I drained the hot water tank. The only thing I think that is missing is the fresh water connect. How is antifreeze drawn into this line?

If you remove the screen on the city water inlet and CAREFULLY press the
check valve stem SLIGHTLY it will probably squirt out the water in there
and hopefully end up with antifreeze in there.

Mine has a little doohickie in the middle. If I push it, it releases the check
valve. If I push it a little too hard it falls out of position and the check
valve stops working. That's why I said "carefully".

Alternative is to blow a little air thru the city water inlet before you
pump in the antifreeze.
