Winterizing

I finally got to winterizing the plumbing today. I blew all the lines out. Emptied the HW tank. I still need to figure out where the anode rod is. By passed the HW tank. Set it up to take the pink stuff from the jug and turned on the pump. Ran the faucets until it came out with hot and cold and the shower. I went outside and ran the outside faucet until it ran pink. Poured some into all the traps. I had a black tank sprayer added to our Tracer this summer. This is the first time I have had one and I love it. I realized I should take care of it too. I ended up running a hose from the outside shower to the connection for the tank sprayer and ran that. It worked great.

A word of advice. When blowing the lines out with the compressor do not stand in front of the low point drains when you open them to blow them out.

You should have removed the anode rod when you drained the hot water heater.....if all you have is a plastic plug to drain it, then you don't have an anode rod.

There is no anode rod if you have an Atwood aluminum tank water heater.
Just the drain plug.

I blew the lines out from the city water hookup. Shouldn't that clear that water out?

As Youroo stated you should pull the screen off at city water inlet, turn your pump off and push the button until the pink stuff comes out. Better to be safe than sorry
