Regardless of the weather or what else might be happening, my Dad's opionion was always, "This would be a great day to be starting on a trip somewhere." I came to have a love of travel, even though it then meant being in an un-air-conditioned car with Mom and Dad and three brothers and heading halfway across the country.

Well, today is a great day to be starting on a trip somewhere. The sun was shining, the sky was clear and blue, and the temperature was higher than we've seen in quite a while. Cindy spent the day cleaning and organizing things while I finished up some items in the office. After dumping and hooking up the car, we hit the road for Washington, DC around 5:30. We're now at a service plaza on the Ohio Turnpike, somewhere between Toledo and Cleveland. Left over roast beef and NCAA basketball are rounding out the evening before we hit the road in earnest tomorrow.

We're looking forward to another exciting time and an opportunity to meet FROG friends both new and familiar. (Notice how deftly I stepped around the word "old"?) We have lots of exciting activities planned, including a special event late in the week. We'll keep everyone updated along the way.

To all of the FROGs converging on DC, or wherever else you might be heading, we wish you safe travels and great adventures.

Hey guys thought I would give a little insight to the weather. I only live about 2 1/2 hours south of DC.

What a crazy spring it has been in VA. We can be almost 70° on a day they call it to be only 50° The next day only 45°

So what does this mean. Well it is a real crap shot. Over all it seems to be trying to warm up. I agree with a statement above. You will have fun no matter what.

It is not the weather or where you go it is who you are making the memories with.

Enjoy, safe travels, and happy camping!!!

Would it be safe to assume that Sir Walter Raleighs is a casual dinner?

Youroo is right that no tie is required. Pants, however, are. I think it might be a recent change since we took Youroo there last year, but then again, it could be a coincidence.

Actually, usually everything we do on these trips is casual. Wear comfortable shoes, because we'll be doing some walking. Otherwise, wear casual and comfortable clothes, and consider layering for the temperature. I usually wear dockers and a polo-type or oxford shirt, depending on temps. Jeans are perfectly fine, and shorts if that's what you want.

Dave, you should have gotten an e-mail about a month ago with a detailed agenda. I'll send you a new copy.

We're really looking forward to seeing everyone and to sharing a great week in Washington. Cindy and I had beautiful travel weather and generally light traffic yesterday. There was still quite a bit of snow in both the Allegheny and the Appalachian Mountains, but the roads were perfectly clear. As a result, we arrived a night early.

No sooner had we gotten into our site than Bud and Bev Parnell stopped by to greet us. One of the best parts of this job is getting to meet wonderful folks, and it was nice to see them again. They seem as excited as we are to be back.

Adrienne Cooper is organizing an Easter Sunday potluck dinner for those who are in camp by Sunday evening, so some of the camaraderie will begin early. Thanks so much to Adrienne for putting that together. I spoke with her last night, and she couldn’t wait to get here.

Today Cindy and I are going to be doing some last minute setup and checking on a few final arrangements. There will be some extra sightseeing opportunities for the early arrivers. The temperature is almost short-sleeve warm, the sky is bright blue with a few puffy clouds, and the wind is calm. Hang on, cherry blossoms, hang on!
