2013 Tadpole/OMI Rally

Okay, getting cabin fever here, time to start planning our camping for this coming season. We already have two trips planned, let's plan out the Tadpole Rally (plus Youroo is on me about it!! )

Thoughts for this year were to get together over Mother's Day again if that works for the faithful Tadpoles out there (you know who you are) and anyone wanting to join our not so famous ranks.

A little out of selfishness since it is close to home for us and because we have always wanted to camp there I am thinking of meeting at the Sauder Village Campground in Archbold, Ohio this year. It is right next to the Sauder Village Museum and Barn Resturant, has an indoor pool, and a group camping area with a group fire pit, plus full hookups available (Youroo won't have to steal water from state park hookups).

I'm open to your ideas or comments on mine?

Your faithful (or fateful, not sure exactly which fits) leader,
Hoff

You can look back into the archives and see what happened with Tadpole Rally 1 and 2. The powers that be where having a Frog Rally. There was a need for a small local rally, so the Tadpole Rally was born. So, we wanted to stay local, so we had the OMI rally, OMI stands for Ohio, Michigan, Indiana. The first was in Ohio, the second was in Indiana, the third, is being discussed, please add your input of a nice campground, it does need room for the Goodyear Blimp. The Blimp has made it to the last two rally's. We do need to move around a lot do to YouRoo getting in trouble with the park rangers and being over run with Fuzzwarts.

Newbies

The wife and I are new froggies. We will be picking up our first travel trailer in March. Planning on Goshen and would be interested in the OMI tadpole rally if I can manage to get off ( I work weekends).
We'll be keeping an eye on this thread!

Oh I get it now!....Mini-FROG-Tadpole...Cute! I found the previous posts on Tadpole/OMI 1 & 2 and will start doing some catch-up.

As far as possible campgrounds go, is there a typical criteria? Full Hook-up/ State partk etc?? Lots of great places in MI depending on the timing. The stateparks during the summer months are hard to get into but not impossible. The UP MI tends to be more available Tahquamenon Falls State Park is real neat! Not sure about the blimp though and it's ~ 6 hrs from the Mi- IN-OH borders.

The Midland County Fair Grounds works well for rallies and ~2.5 hrs from the boarder. The Golds wings and harley people meet there every year. It also shares a unfenced property line with Barstow Airport which is apears to be "blimp "friendly". The only big negative to us is that it is only 10 min from our house. Not much of a trip, but we'd probably go anyway.

Another possible would be Little River Casino RV Resort in Manistee, MI (~3.5 hrs from boarder). Very reasonablly priced and they also host regional JAYCO Rally. Real close to a nice Lake michigan beach and RV people get the run of the hotel facilities. Also I think that this particular band of the Ottawa Indian tribe is "Pro-Blimp".

Let me know if I'm on the right track with these suggestions.

Your catching on, the main problem is Youroo, once he has been to an area, it takes a while for things to cool down for he can go back. Plus last year he was over run with Fuzzwarts, the Red Headed kind, they are the most dangerous. Do to the fact he has gone north the last two years, Indiana has a song about him, " Indiana wants me, I can't go back there" I was thinking of taking him south of the border, across the moat, to a land that time has forgot.

Low you must of been parked to close to YOUROO the last trip. The red headed fuzzy's attacked you TT bad, so bad you had to get a new one. When I parked in you drive with mine I see a few. I had the boys go inside the TT to take care of them. So far I have not spotted any this winter. Fingers X a toy hauler might be next if my 1/2 ton can do it with the TLC installed. The DW might have something to say about that also. KY park might be a great choice how many moat passes will we need for this journey

Helloooo, is any tadpoles out there? We are easing up on our third Tadpole Rally and have not confirmed anything, how about this spot, by the Ohio River, so if anyone would ever act up, just pull the wheel chocks and give a little push, bye bye now. Please be careful when opening the door......Watch that first step, its a wet one. Deep too.
Little Farm RV Resort
Just an idea, we have new people to induct into the Tadpoles, Youroo is in charge of the initiation. What could ever go wrong with that? Anyway, we need to select a spot. Here we are real close to Kentucky, we may get a few Kentuckians to come across the moat and join us.So would we be OMIK, OIMK, KMIO, or MIOK? Maybe just OMI and K.

Little Farm is a nice (Very Nice) C/G.It has a Assy.Hall that we can use as well as (2) Shelters as well. It is South,so the members can see other parts of Tadpole Land. Have been there for other Rallys, always a good time. Go South young man. Youroo!!

As part of the OH crowd, I may be interested in this "tadpole" meetup, and will be watching this thread.

Don't just watch, hop in. That way it helps with blame distribution. After all, we can't blame Youroo for everything.

OK people we need more input for the location of the (Tadpole Rally). OMI might have a (North & South Rally) and in the Fall we could have a (Football Game) between the two locations! We could use the (Horseshoe) it doesnt get used that much anyway! Youroo!!

Youroo and LB, since you guys are in Krautville and the Burg, and I'm just up the road, location discussion could be done over a beer!

How about in a couple of weeks we have a meeting at a restaurant in southwest Ohio? We can have an opportunity for a meet and greet. Plus go over plans for the Tadpole Rally, the northern Tadpoles are invited as well as the Indiana crowd. Hopefully we can get the Ky. group involved.

Sounds like a plan. I'm not down that way as much as I use to, 2 of my kids live with their mother in WC. One in jr @ WC the other at Sinclair. But say the word, I'm sure we can find a central location.

No,No,No, We planned it all out at the last (OMI) meeting. We have the (Ohio River Steamship Co.) on call to bring in Barges to place overflow at the (OMI Tadpole Rally). We did a simular thing at other Tadpole Rallys, only we purchased the farm next too the State Park we were at. The more the Merrier! Youroo!!
