I'd recommend staying at Scott county park west lake if d-port is your choice.

Keep me up to date as it gets closer.

Btw i see you drive a ford I'll bring plenty of tools n parts

You are so full of it Turbs. You and I both know you take a leisure trip to Goshen be that Duramax has a huge risk of explosion at anything over 45MPH.

The only reason I ask that is that is lot of miles a day for a driver you are bound to hit some mts. which will slow you down. It might just be me but I have had it after like 300 miles or so. Last year it took us and the Old Coot 2.5 days to get there from Virginia. I don't have the slightest idea of how you drive. I know it takes me from Miami to southern Virginia 3 days and that's about 850 miles. But everyone is different. The only reason I even questioned it was your statement that it was first time leaving Florida. I do understand your excitement in the post, but my advice is to add a little extra time if possible. I know it's none of my business but to me it's a lot of miles a day. See you in Goshen and have a safe trip........

Only choice out west, we need a truck that will pull the mountains out here.

At times, he's funny, this just didn't happen to be one of them.

Yes, that is a lot of miles in one day and I'm not driving. We did drive 360 miles to the Florida Caverns State Park in the panhandle in 5-6 hours with two stops and that seemed forever.

For the rally, reality will kick in after 400 miles and we'll probably end up arriving Sunday instead and kissing the ground when we arrive.

X2 what others have said - I am pretty much toast after 350 Miles (and that is @ 6 hours driving with no breaks)

Anyhoo, we have camped around Middle GA, and Right around the "honey I'm beat, let's find a camp" point you should be in Macon GA. If you take the I475 bypass, there is a great camp at Lake Tobesofkee (Looking at your rig, I am assuming you are 50AMP so you will need to camp at Claystone Camp) Pretty devent rates - Under $30 a night...here is a link from my bookmarks

Lake Tobesofkee Home Page

It would be a long day 2 drive, but just outside Elizabethtown, KY is Glendale Campground - just off I65 - a really nice campground that we have stayed at:

Home

Day 3 would see you to Goshen - @ a 300 or so mile drive and, on a Sunday I have been told traffic from Louisville-Goshen should not be a big deal.

Hope this helps and see you there!

We will be attending our good friends 50th wedding anniversary in Palmarya, PA on Saturday. So it will be a 580 mile run on Sunday. It's a long day, but we have had some longer days in the past.

It is our first Goshen Rally and we are looking forward to seeing you all there!

Yes, thank you for all the info. I will check out the campgrounds and map out the distances and time. Hopefully they are not too far from the interstate, I don't want too much of excess driving than we already are.

For our trip to Goshen from Florida, when we reach the TN/GA border on I-75, which way would be a safe non-nail biting route? Continuing on I-75 or take I-24 to I-65?

Because I have read that a stretch of I-24 can be very tricky to drive even for semi's.

I never did answer your post back in April - APOLOGIES!!

I would stay on I75 - Overnight at Lake Tobosfocee - it is 4 miles off the interstate. E-Z in and Out - really!

I75 to I20 to I65 @ Birmingham - do not let rumors of construction scare you - we have been up and down this route over the past 4 months with no problem.

I65 on up from B'Ham to Glendale campground in Elizabethtown KY. This will be a long day :-\ Lake Tobosfocee-> E'Town @ 450 miles so get a early start!

Again, Glendale is RIGHT off I65 easy access and return!

Hope this helps!

We're also coming from Houston, but will be leaving around 7/25. Last year we were pressed for time and our TT was almost brand new so we really didn't enjoy the trip. This year we can take our time.
