I would be surprised if AT&T throttled thier data here... its kinda the idea to get people to use it so they can bill 'em for it.

I doubt they're doing any 'throttling'. If slow-downs are faced, it's more likely that the local AT&T network is undersized for the number of people on that local network.

Gotta figure, during the rally, there's 800+ rigs, at an average of 2 devices a rig so 1600 additional devices on 1 or 2 cell towers that were only designed to handle the normally capacity of the population of AT&T customers in Goshen.

If we ballpark that at say 8000 based on a Goshen population of around 30,000 would mean there's suddenly an extra 20% overhead on their system they're probably not sized for.

These of course are all wild speculations. If I had the actual numbers we could figure out just what kind of impact we have on the peaceful town of Goshen when the Frogs come rolling in.

Correct, but also remember that its an Event Center. Our 1600 people is nothing compared to when they have the fair there. I would assume that they have the ability to handle that capacity as well.

Cell towers are fed by fiber optics. Signals are fed at the speed of light. Not a problem for that signal. Copper lines would be over capacity.

Having spent years in the business, that's not exactly how it works. Fiber is there for capacity; lots and lots of circuits, but no one transmission is 'light speed'. And not all connections to a Mobile Switching Office is on fiber anyway.

But it's not that important here. Be happy to bore you to tears in real life some day and 'splain how cell service works..........if they haven't drastically changed it in last 3 years!!

Close enough to let them know they have the band width to cover the calls!

Have Verizon cell phone and hot spot. It worked fine, got good 4G signal at Goshen in 2014.

Now about Tuesday........... is that 12:01 on Tuesday or another more specific time on Tuesday???? "Sometime" is kind of a vague measurement.

It could be less than 1 & 1/2 hours away. Get your finger on the button. The countdown starts now -85 minutes.
