There are several brand clubs that have been around longer than FROG has been in existence. Among them are Cardinal, Cedar Creek, and R-Pod. The Columbus group is a new addition.
At the first FROG International we had about 4 R-Pods. They had such a good time they spread the word, and the next year we had over 25. I was asked if we could park them together, and I decided to have an R-Pod Village (our equivalent of the Ewok Village from one of the first Star Wars movies) in an area with some fairly short sites. They elected a mayor, had a decorating contest, and drew up ordinances (most of which revolved around having a fun time and, if you showed up with wine or chocolate, bringing enough to share). We will have an R-Pod Village again, and I encourage everyone to stop by.
Cedar Creek asked if they could be together a couple of years ago, and we put them in the racetrack infield on the only permanent sites there. Last year we had about 140 Cedar Creeks registered, most of whom were not part of the club. It just happens to be one of our largest brands, and they had a great turnout. Largely for the convenience of handling service, we put all of them, except for a few who had requested to park with friends, in the infield. Cedar Creek brought in a huge tent, set up a satellite service facility, and did a great job of handling their service requests.
Cardinal had about 25 club members parked together. They're probably our oldest club group, going back to before Cardinal was a part of Forest River.
Columbus owners started asking about parking together about two years ago, before I even knew that there was a Columbus group. We accommodated many of them, but were not able to get all of them to one area.
Do these groups use the FROG Rally as an opportunity to get together and see long-time friends? Absolutely. They also are about as friendly and welcoming a bunch (all four of them) as you'd ever want to meet, as is pretty much everyone who attends the FROG Rally.
I've been asked about letting some Berkshire owners park together, and will be trying to accommodate some of those in the Grove area, although there are probably some who will want to take their chances on getting a full hookup site with 50 amps instead.
Now, will we be parking all of the like brands together? No. There are several reasons for this. One of those is that it gets to be a nightmare to try to estimate the space needed for each brand and to try to weave in and out of parking areas to get people to the "right" spot. It can be done pretty easily when there are isolated areas, like the racetrack. Otherwise, it's much more efficient -- and safer -- to take an area or two and simply start "hobo parking" the units, one after another, when we're trying to park several hundred folks in a single day.
We also want to mix brands, give everyone a chance to socialize, and maybe give someone in one brand an opportunity to look around and perhaps find his or her next unit nearby. We don't want to create cliques or to isolate anyone.
On the other hand, it certainly provides a convenience to the service team if all of their brands are parked together, as was the case with the Cedar Creek situation.
I've had multiple conversations about this with Pete, with Leo (who, for those of you who will be there for the first time, runs an incredible service operation), with many of the people on the parking team, and with other members. It's one of several tightropes that we continue to walk to try to have a successful and enjoyable event, and I think that the parking team does more than an amazing job of pulling it off.
We'll continue to try to improve and fine tune things as we go along, but can we talk about something else now?

From a Berkshire Owner: Thank you FROG Bob for your tireless efforts at keeping us ALL happy! We really do appreciate all you do for us!
Rick and I plan to park with the Berkshire Group and use that as a home base/meeting spot and a place to rest after roaming all over the Fairgrounds meeting fellow FROGs during the Goshen Rally!
This will be our very FIRST Forest River rally so parking with other Berkies might be kind of a security blanket for us. But, I am sure we will be so busy at the rally that the only things being "confined" in the parking areas will be our Motorhomes!
Thank you to all the FROGs that have made us feel welcome. We look forward to meeting all of you!
Karen

Nine o'clock and calling it a night from the office. I might not even log on from home tonight as I usually do. Lots of fires extinguished, and the others and smolder in the rain until morning.

Great job Bob. I have worked large events and it's nerve wracking.
As for keeping folks together, the XLRs were together last year and had a great time. Hope we can do that again.

Good night Mr. Frog, just remember, in 4 months, you'll have Aquaman, Turbs, Youroo and IndyMule running around taking care of business. After dark, of course. Pleasant dreams.

We will have back to back fun. Missed last years Bamaganza because our first grand baby was born. Looking so forward to these two rallies. Now our Aviator is finally ready to camp in it. FR has had it since last years rally. They did a fantastic job with it. We love our Aviator!
Even if we are a extremely small group!

So, you're saying in Goshen the PPST becomes the "Phat Phrog Security Team"?
Hey, works for me.
