2017 Aug 17th-20th - Bryce Canyon Utah rally
I wanted to join in too but I work for a school district in SoCal and the first day of school is August 9. I have return from summer break the week before. With all the different dates it's very hard to find a date that fits everyone. I have family that works in two other local school districts and we all have different schedules.

Well I think things have quieted down as have stopped receiving as many questions about the rally so I think we've topped out at 15 units. Sam and I are excited cause it is a real beautiful place and always enjoy meeting new people.

The potluck is still on for Saturday and food is always an option for the creative few. Didn't want to make too many demands on the group being that some members will be traveling all day to get there.

do you know where our spaces will be? the back area is pretty much open ground with no trees. but I suspect that is where we will be as it is probably the only place where they can get contiguous spaces. we just hope there will be some thunderstorms and lightning blowing by that we can watch. they were so amazing last time we were there. it's only a month away!

Most likely we will be in the back area- maybe one or two away from the group.
I stayed in the trees last time and liked it very much but found myself going to the back areas at dusk and dawn to watch the wildlife come thru.
Never thought about possible t-storms but that would be amazing!
I'm going to bring my easy down just in case of showers. But it could be a shocking experience being made of metal!

we were there in august a couple of years ago and there were absolutely stunning thunderstorms nearly every afternoon. not necessarily rain on us, but beautiful clouds, lighting, and thunder. probably part of the monsoon season. the wife will be totally disappointed if they are not there.

Just wanted to give a reminder that to get you national parks pass if you haven't already done so. The fee to enter Bryce Canyon is $30 for the duration of your stay. If you get the annual park pass, the fee is $80 and $10 more to get it 2nd day air to you. There is a senior lifetime pass for $10 WHICH IS GOING UP TO $80 ON AUGUST 28th.
It is so much easier to just flash your pass at the gate than to pay for entrance.
