2018 Frogtoberfest Camper Crawl

So we all like taking a peek when someone gets a new camper, am I right?

After the success of last years camper crawl, we decided to do a "Camper Crawl" again. Its like a Pub Crawl, but with campers!

How this is going to work... bear in mind, some details may change as conditions warrant

Those interested in joining will gather at a starting camper, we will take about 15 minutes to have a quickie tour of that camper, and the owner can use that time to show off its features or otherwise answer questions. The owner of the camper WILL PROVIDE a small "refreshment" for the group. Think jello-shot, homemade wine, tasting of favorite local brew or something similar. After 15 minutes of checking it out, the whole group will proceed en-masse to the next camper and the cycle will repeat.

The festivities will kick off at 8pm on Thursday night. Starting location will be revealed soon.

I am looking for a few people willing to allow the galloping herd take a look inside their campers. We need to keep it down to about 10 or so units in total or else we will be out till 3 in the morning. To try to keep it manageable, we are going to restrict it as follows:

We will select campers bought NEW since the last Frogtoberfest first. In other words, this don't have to be your campers first rally, but it has to be its first Frogtoberfest. If there are not 10 or so 'new' campers, will then select "not-so-new" campers that are making there first trip to the Amana rally. After that, if space permits, we will select campers based on interest, rarity (If anyone has a v-nose 5th wheel, you are a shoe-in) or any other criteria that would make people want to see your unit.

As stated, you must be willing to provide some 'refreshments' for the gawkers. Don't ask me how many, I don't have a clue at this point. Better make more just to be safe.

IF you would like to show off your new unit, please PM me.

DO NOT REPLY IN THIS THREAD! SEND ME A PM (Privave Message)! That way its a surprise to everyone, as I will announce each camper only when its time to start towards it.

Again, I'm trying to keep this down to a manageable number, so possibly not everyone who volunteers will get chosen if we get a large number of willing sucker... ah... volunteers. I certainly mean no slight if we can't include anyone's campers, but I'm shooting for a good mix of different units in the time allotted. It would make no sense to put in two nearly identical units. Everyone who is chosen for display will be informed well in advance so you have time to plan for your refreshments. This year, we will be providing a special gift for hosts, so that they can proudly proclaim to the world that they were brave enough to let a bunch of strangers trod through there new campers. Of course, you can post any questions you have on this thread, or send me a PM.

Being part of the 'crowd' is open to any Frogtoberfest attendee. I will provide details on starting location and time later on. It was a huge success last year. We had about 30 people in the 'crowd' and a wide variety of campers to look over (including mine)

Tim

P.S.

Some pictures from last years crawl...

This was really a lot of fun last year. I'm sorry we won't be there for this iteration (going to the Grand Canyon / Albuquerque). Enjoy!

I'll allow you to miss it, but you gotta send over about 7 gallons of porch crawl.

The fact that you are from Ohio won't be held against you....some of the most dangerous people we know are from there, although they rarely make an appearance in Amana. A few days in a Midwest cornfield with do a person a lot of good. Sign up, hook up and come on down!

Just bumping this back to the top.

I have messages from people willing to host rolling in, I will leave it open for a few more days. If you want to host, drop me a PM and I will get you on the list. Again... It's possible that not all who volunteer are selected to host. We are trying to keep a good mix of different camper types to keep it interesting.

I thought I did a good job explaining the event in the original post, but I will summarize here:

1) If you want to host (i.e. show off your camper) send me a PM. If you don't know how to send a PM, simply click my name (Cowracer) on the left side panel of this post and select "Send Private Message". From there its pretty much just like doing a regular forum post.

2) If you are selected to host, you have to provide a 'refreshment' for the crawlers. Alcoholic is appreciated, but anything is fine. You will be given advanced notice (figure at least a week before)

3) If you want to be part of the people going on the crawl, I will provide starting location in the future. You just simply need to show up.

4) The Crawl kicks off at 8:00 PM on THURSDAY, October 4th.

5) We will go as a group (mob) from one camper to the next, spending 20 or so minutes at each, marveling at features, and sampling the refreshments.

This was enjoyed by everyone last year. Looking forward to seeing everyone on it this year!

Tim

Count us in for camper crawling. I would volunteer our house but our little four legged body guard would not like that many peoples in the house.
I would however be glad to supply some “mob bucket” refreshment if need be. Goes down smooth comes back hard!

FINAL BUMP!

I still can squeeze in one or two more people willing to host for the crawl. I will close the sign-up on Monday the 17th and start letting people know. We have mostly 5th wheels signed up right now. I would love to get some TTs or even a motorhome or two. Even some smaller, more budget minded units are encouraged. Its just a good way to show off your pride and joy, Be it a Berk 39A or an R-Pod 180 (although, we might have to work out a 'tag-team' method for letting everyone look over the R-Pod.)

Trust me. It'll be fun to host. Shoot me a PM if you want in on the hosting side. For everyone else, I'll be posting up time and location that we'll start on Thursday. Just show up, and be part of the mob

Tim
