OK SO I am gonna Opt for a small lets get to know one another campout -- We are leaving for Goshen this Thursday so I will be hit or miss until 19 Aug.

Going to plan for lat Oct so we can catch the leaves and enjoy the fall weather...washers, corn hole, ladder golf, group grill outs

Think Desoto Falls will be a good venue based on this -- I need a FIRM count on who is wanting to come (and willing to PayPal me a deposit ) so I can reserve out camp sites

FROG Bob is willing to help - Forest River is AWESOME! If RV Dealerships want to pony up prizes - ask around!!

I will be on the forums until Thursday Night then my connection becomes iffy as we go to Goshen - just a FYI

Bob, why don't you see if you can get some door prizes from Forest River while you are up at Goshen?

Will do Pennie - in fact, FROG Bob has already told me that FROG will assist us with not only that but perhaps provide us a meal as well!

I am going to contact Dandy RV today and see if they would be interested as well.

Would really like a decent head count before we leave for Goshen (That would be THIS Thursday! ) So I can start emailing RV parks and let FROG Bob know our estimated attendance when I speak to him @ Goshen

Slight Change of Plans Fellow FROGS....After chatting with folks at the Rally...

Let's do a INFORMAL campout - say in October for the leaf changing, talk about organizing a FROG Chapter for Alabama (or Alabama-Tennessee -- GA already has a chapter) and nail down a date in April-May for a formal FROG Spring Rally in Alabama. FROG Will sponsor us, and we can get some door prizes and other stuff - I will relate that to ya'll at out informal Rally.

Here is what I propose - if this works for ya'll I will move forward with reservations and coordination with the park personnel.

WHEN: OCT 24-26 2014
WHERE: Mill Creek RV Park - Mill Creek Park Homepage

Please let me know if you can attend -- you can also email me at bob@williamsnet.org

OK Folks here is the info:

They CAN Accommodate us!! SO who is in???

DATE: OCT 23-25
COST: $26.00 A night ( AND we get a covered shelter with a satellite TV that will hold 45 folks!)

Does anyone have a Direct TV receiver? They have a dish but we have to supply the receiver (after all it IS the AL-TN Gameday SAT

Please let me know ASAP if you can attend and I will set the weekend up!

Here is the email I received from them:

We have 25 sites and specialize in clubs your size. We can definitely accommodate 10 - 15 and still have a little room for others.
All sites are 30 & 50 AMP with water and sewer. 20 of the sites are pull thrus. WiFi is available at no extra charge.

Television reception is poor. Cable is not available in this rural area. Those with satellites need to bring them along if football is important to them.

We have 3 DirecTV hookups for those who want to bring their receiver but do not have a portable dish. There is a $2 extra charge per night for these sites.

Oct 23 - 25, 2014 has not been reserved by anyone else and we have tentatively penciled you in for those dates.

We are a little different from most other privately owned RV parks.
First, we are in a very remote location. The closest stores and eateries are 3 miles away. The grocery, dollar general, bank, and other eateries are 5 miles away.
There is also an "antiques and collectibles" store and an art gallery in Elkmont (3miles) for those who like to browse.

Everything else is going to be 12- 15 miles away at a minimum. We do not have a "camp store" nor do we sell ice. There is just not enough demand.

Our motto is "We sell peace and quiet." Our frequent visitors love it but those who "like a little action" may be disappointed.

There is no playground nor swimming pool. We do have a beautiful rock bottom creek and are located next to a "Rails to Trails" which is 12 miles long.

There is also adequate space for walking, biking, running etc in the park. There are two bathrooms in the pavilion (enclosed shelter) available to guests.

Migratory bird watching in October should be good. Deer and turkey sometimes wander into the trees near the RV's.

There should be some good "fall scenery" for those who like to drive and look at leaves.
We have a privacy gate which we lock in the evening. Everyone is given the gate code when they check in so you can come and go as desired.

The enclosed shelter seats about 45 at tables. It has a full kitchen (stove, sink, refrigerator, microwave, coffee makers, counter tops)

There is a wood stove for heat if it is cold at night. You can request that we have a satellite receiver available for the group (there is a TV) at no extra charge.

RV club rate is $26 per night. Our regular rate is $32. There are no other discounts for RV clubs because there is no additional fee for the shelter.

If club members want to arrive before Oct 23, we will honor other discounts. However, senior, Escapees, military, AAA, & Good Sam are all $26.

All rates are for 2 people. Each additional person is $1 per night. We also ask that RVers pay $1 each for "visitors" they may entertain while here.

Our telephone # is 256-732-3686 if you need to contact us directly.

We live on site and this is also our personal phone altho we answer "Mill Creek Park" during business hours.

Thank you for contacting us. We look forward to hosting you either this October or some other time.

More Information from the CG & for Any who would like to arrive early.

To make things interesting, how about a friendly SEC Rivalry? Saturday night is the Alabama-Tennessee Game if someone has a satellite system that receives the game.

Also the CG will let us use their Direct TV dish & TV in the covered pavilion as long as someone will volunteer to bring their Direct TV receiver.

Email from Margie the CG Owner:

Bob,
Thanks so much. We are still holding the dates for you.

We do not require deposits except for the first weekend in October and have not had to enforce that rule. There is a large fiddlers convention then.

The correct answer to your question is, "No, we neither require nor accept deposits.". The name and phone # is adequate information.
We will be happy to honor PA prior to Thursday. 19 of the 20 pull thrus are 50 AMP. At least 18 of the pull thrus will be available for you.

We will reserve the sites closest to the pavilion (enclosed shelter) for club members. We have one site right next to the pavilion(large but not pull thru) if you have some folks who are physically challenged. Also the pavilion has a sidewalk that enables scooters or wheelchairs to access bathrooms and inside the pavilion without steps or thresholds.
Don't think I told you that before.

Look forward to hosting you.
Margie

You and LittlePM are signed up! - waiting for responses from the others.

Also, FROG Bob is weighing in and will be providing a "little something" for our Rally Attendees!

Remember folks, this is the formative meeting and campout of the FROG group that has folks from all over the south formerly known as Ala FROG

We may need a new name and we need to establish when we have our "really Big Rally" - Capt Mike suggested sometime in early May if memory serves (CRS strikes again!)

I am starting to plan activities and need to know what ya'll want to do?

There are some really pretty nature trails out there!
Cornhole?
Washers?
Ladder Golf?
Of COURSE the AL-TN Foosball game Saturday Night

This CG is very secluded and quiet so as you plan it is a good idea to come to the CG with everything you need for the weekend.

Toss me your thoughts folks and I will try to work them in!
