If memory serves, I did not get any feedback from the CG for quite some time so I called them again. They then emailed me with the confirmation number and fee, but I checked and the camping fee has not yet been charged.

The camping fee will not be charged to your credit card until you actually check in. If you fail to check in but don't notify them a day in advance, they will charge a $10 cancellation fee to the credit card.
