Any FROG events in New York / Long Island area?

We'd be interested in attending!

Long Islander, we don't have anything scheduled in NY City area yet, but we're looking at the York / Lancaster County / Hershey area in PA, and possibly at Ottawa, Quebec City, and/or Thousand Islands for 2014.

X2 - I'm a York native and now live about an hour south of there. We camp often at the Outdoor World/Thousand Trails parks up there.

I must say, Long Island is home of some terrific campgrounds and being in the center of some great national areas of attraction and some amazing ocean fishing as well..

*I have many connections here on the island, so if you need any assistance do not hesitate to PM me. I have access to everything you need at a phone call away.

I'd be interested in hearing about those terrific campgrounds.
I visit LI every few years but not many decent campgrounds other than an open field.

There's many locations, but here's a few that 'stick out':

Ocean Camping:

Smith Point Park is the largest oceanfront park in the country. Smith Point is located on the Fire Island barrier beach and is a mecca for sportsman, surfers and beach lovers alike. Smith Point offers 270 campsites for tents and trailers on its 2,293 acres with playgrounds, water/electric hookups, grills and snack bar. Campers and tourists will be able to explore the ocean’s floor while scuba diving, catch some waves, try their luck at saltwater fishing or indulge in relaxation on the sandy beach..

Camping in the 'woods'

This 275 acre Indian Island Park, at the estuarine mouth of the Peconic River, is open to the public year-round for a variety of activities. Camping is immensely popular at Indian Island, with trailer and tent campsites open to organized groups, individuals and camping clubs. Restrooms and shower facilities are available for the comfort of all campers. What was formerly the "island" at Indian Island County Park is now connected to the mainland by a causeway composed entirely of white sands. Remote, yet easily accessible to all, this "island", complete with picnic tables, grills, comfortable benches and views of a glistening and peaceful Flanders Bay, offers one of the finest picnicking sites available in Suffolk County.

We're working on a Gettysburg / Lancaster County event, targeting April 1-9. I hope to have more details available next week when some of the campground offices re-open and I can make the final arrangements.

We were out in that area last year and saw Noah at the Sight and Sound Theater which was a great show.
The Official Web Site of Sight & Sound Theatres

By April they will be showing Moses which we want to see this year. Sounds like two birds with one stone!

We will be looking for details on the rally.

Right now it is scheduled to be at Bissels Hideaway unless you have a better suggestion. I talked to the park and it seems a bit pricey for the short time here is the response from the park. Let me know if you have a different suggestion. SYE

Thank you for inquiring about our resort. We do have 9 pull-thru sites all with e/w/s 50amp services. The cost for the 3 night stay would be $238.66 (tax included). It does include up to 2 adults and 2 children. We also have over 30 e/w/s sites and the cost for those would be $223.73. I have included a 10% additional discount.

As far as accommodation for eating, we do have a rec hall that we rent out. The cost per day is $275 plus tax. We could provide it to your group for a 50% discount.

At this time, our dollar is pretty much equivalent to the US dollar.

If you have further questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

Have a great day!

Isabelle

SYE, we stayed at Bissell's Hideaway back in late June / early July. They were very accomodating, and it's a great spot. If you can get the nine pull-thru spots at the top of the hill, they are by far the best place to be -- near the office and the dining hall, and much larger and more accessible than anywhere else in the park.

Depending on how much you need it, you might want to see if they'll comp the hall. They did for us, but we had about 50 units over the two weeks. It never hurts to ask. If you let them know that you're part of Forest River and FROG it might help. (I made sure I paid all of our bills before we left, so at least it won't hurt.) You're getting close to Canada Day and their busy time, but you never know how flexible they can be. Isabelle was great to work with.
