Any interest in a Colorado get-together?

What's better than a single Forest River camper? A whole group of Forest River campers! I was thinking it would be fun for a group of FR owners to meet for a camping weekend somewhere in Colorado this summer. Perhaps Golden Gate Canyon SP? Would anyone be interested? I'd be happy to help organize the logistics.

Timing wise, late July or August works best for us. Given how fast State Parks fill up on weekends, we'll want to book sites now if there's interest. Post up here and let me know!

I went to book a reservation last week for our family at Golden Gate Canyon, and the soonest we could get into "E" loop was early September. That place fills up fast! So, if we really want to plan something we're probably looking at September for Golden Gate. Alternatively, we could look at Lathrop State Park as they don't seem to get as busy. Certainly a longer haul for the Denver folks though...

I would certainly be interested if it doesn't conflict with my plans for this summer. September (after Labor Day) would be really good. September is the best time of year anywhere in Colorado, and I am particularly fond of Golden Gate and Mueller.

Man! I would love to join you guys if I were only on the west coast. I drive like that from NJ would burn a whole bunch of my leave up. Best of luck to you guys though sounds great.

Sounds like there's a bit of interest! Here's my personal plan for later in the season -- it would be great to make either the Mueller, Lathrop, or Golden Gate weekends a Forest River group get-together!

• Sat, 7 Jul – Mon, 9 Jul: Mueller SP, Site 122
• Fri, 20 Jul – Sun, 22 Jul: Lathrop SP, Site 100
• Fri, 14 Sep – Sun, 16 Sep: Golden Gate Canyon SP, Site 55

I can't make the Mueller weekend (I'll be at Heaton Bay) or the Lathrop weekend (Golden Gate), but I'll know whether I'll be able to make the Golden Gate weekend once the Broncos schedule comes out tomorrow. There's not much left there, though.

Funny, we're doing Heaton Bay over Memorial Day weekend. First time there -- hoping it's good!

Heaton Bay is a nice campground; just don't expect a lot of shade. Beetle kill over the last few years has resulted in removal of most of the trees. I will be at Redstone Memorial Day weekend, the start of a 3-week trip that will take me through Utah, Northern Arizona and Southwest Colorado, including 6 National Parks (and overlooking a 7th).

I've reserved Golden Gate Canyon site 56 for September 13-17. See you there!

Cool! Sounds like Golden Gate Canyon in September is the unofficial Forest River gathering for Colorado! Anyone else interested?

I won't be able to attend, because we have the Dealer Expo in Elkhart the week of September 18, and then will be on a tight schedule to get to Tucson. However, FROG would like to be supportive is some way. If you guys want to select a point person to organize this, we'd be happy to sponsor a meal, send attendance prizes, or help in some other way that would add to the fun.

We did something similar for the recent outing in Oklahoma, and will be doing it for the OMI Tadpole Rally next month in Indiana as well. Kick it around and let me know.

Well, darn. We won't be able to make the "unofficial" gathering at Golden Gate. We're camping Jellystone in Estes Park that weekend.

I'll post some dates and places where where we'll be camping and perhaps we can shoot the breeze around a campfire.

Up next:

This weekend @ Chatfield State Park - Loop B
Memorial Day Weekend - Sand Dunes

I'm at Chatfield right now, but I'm leaving Thursday.
