I have been to that RV park many times and it is a very good one. During the week I pay $18 per night with a Good Sam discount and the senior buffet on Tuesday is $5.50 each, no tax and the last few times we were there they gave it to us for free because we had gambled with their Advantage cards. When we go we unhook our 5er and park our truck and they pick you up at your RV and take you to the casino and bring you back to your RV. You can't get better or friendlier service. My better half makes me play bingo with her when I would rather be at the craps tables.
Good Luck on your rally and I would love to join you but must work. All of their sites are pull thrus with a good amount of room and excellent facilities.

Thanks for the feedback!

whj77372 - Sorry you have to work and can't join us. We're definitely not thinking of this little trip as a rally; we are going and would really like to start meeting some other FROGs. Thanks for the heads up about the Good Sam discount. I didn't notice it on the website when I made the reservation. We will have to ask for it when we register. We are newbies and still trying to get our act together.
Nothing much happening at Coushatta this weekend and that will be fine with us. Ray and I met at Tahoe in 1965. He worked for Harrah's in the vault and I was cleaning motel rooms. We're not big gamblers having seen the industry from the inside over many years. I am looking forward to the seafood buffet on Saturday evening.
Have you stayed at the campground on the Alabama-Coushatta reservation outside of Woodville? We may also drive over to Rayne, LA. Our Escapees group had a regional rally at their conference center, but we were booked and couldn't go. Evidently Rayne is known as Frog City so I think we need to check it out.

Lori - I did get your email and have been meaning to get back to you about a spring all state rally at Ron Hoover Oasis RV Resort in La Marque (Galveston County). The GM for Ron Hoover in La Marque was very pleased to hear about our group getting organized. They will work with us with reduced rates, reserved use of their community room, and other possible sponsor-type support. The sooner we can get a date pinned down the better. I'm thinking late March. Spring comes early along the Gulf Coast. I'll see if I can figure out when Spring Break is for most schools and if there are any festivals, etc. that folks might enjoy. Enjoy your wood floors.

We're back in Houston

Just wanted to close this thread off by reporting in. We had a good trip to Red Shoes Resort at Grand Coushatta Casino in Kinder, LA. The days were bright and sunny, but the nights were cool; now we know that both AC units and the heater work. The park was about 75% full on the weekend, maybe half of those class As and the rest towables and a few Cs. Saw a lot of Forest River rigs, but didn't meet anyone who was a FROG. Have to work on that.

Very clean facilities, friendly and helpful staff, but they could improve the RV Lodge by offering some basic supplies and convenience store type products. We are newbies and our fresh water hose had a cut in it, evidently from a box knife, which we didn't see until we hooked up. We forgot to bring duct tape or anything else to wrap it with to get us through the weekend and there wasn't any place nearby to buy some. Now you know one of the things on the list for the next trip. The casino food was great. We got an Advantage Card to start qualifying for complementary breakfasts.

Only really bothersome thing was a child out walking a dog that was much too big and strong for him to control. The aggressive dog pulled that kid behind it as it headed straight for our small Brittany. Fortunately Ray was able to get between them and get our dog into our trailer. I felt badly for the boy, but miffed at the adults who had put him and us in a dangerous situation that could have gone badly.

We were having trouble getting hitched up on Monday and a very nice man from Alexandria approached us and offered his help which we gratefully accepted. He showed us what we weren't doing correctly without making us feel dumb and we were on our way shortly afterwards. (The approx. 200 mile trip took us about 4 hours with several pit stops and a gas fill up.)

Looking forward to meeting some of you, particularly from East Texas and Louisiana, and sharing some weekend trips.

Steph
