We won't be in the UP until after Labor Day this year, so we'll have to say "Hi" at the rally. If you haven't discovered the Boatnerd website, here's a handy link to see where the ships are at any given time.

Great Lakes & Seaway Shipping Online AIS Passage Maps

Also, while you are in the Soo, check out the West Pier drive in for amazing burgers. You're just down the road from Clyde's, but I'd really recommend West Pier. You won't be able to get to it with anything in tow.

Thanks for the info. We have the book that describes all the ships that go by. Very interesting. I also have a scanner radio to listen to the shipping traffic.
Thanks for the website. We'll make good use of it. And, we'll certainly go for the hamburger.

We were in Osborne in June. Awesome place to see ore board pass .

On a side note ... I'm on waiting list for FROG rally & received message about openings . By the time I had replied back they were filled . It was only a very short while . I think I 'm going to head to rally anyway since it is on the way home . If nothing open I'll keep rolling....

OK I have read all the info on the official page and all the great hints/tips but can't find out about trash pick up. Do we need a large can? Do we take it to a dumpster or is there a service that comes by for pick out. Also I read that once we are parked, we are there for the duration. Does that mean that if we had to leave early, we could not get out? Just covering all bases.

Hello

Trash. Bins all around the park. We drop our bag once a day. Recycling is tougher. They don't have it readily available.

If you have to leave you can in most areas get out. Some areas a person or two might have to move a truck.
Some people leave on Friday to get home early.

How far in advance does a person have to get a site reserved for this event?

There is about a 10 hour window on some magic date in March, or maybe February, or possibly April, that appears like a puff of sunrise on the horizon, and which you must grasp or watch it disappear into the ephemeral ether of the cosmos forever............

It appears here:

Forest River Owners Group - The official owner's group of Forest River RV, manufacturer of world-class recreational vehicles.

and this is my first one, and I got lucky, so all I know is watch that site daily, almost hourly, and when it happens, strike..........there are only 800 spots.

There ARE cancellations I hear.......so you can get on a list........

FYI - Do NOT expect to "just show up" as there will be no spots available.

Do not expect to stay "close by" and attend Rally events or expect any kind of service. Everyone who is supposed to be there has a wrist band and vehicle tag.

Service requests (except for some limited emergency service) is booked and planned weeks in advance in order to have parts and technicians available.

It just makes it hard on the volunteers to turn folks away at the gate and just slows down the process for legitimate arrivals.

If you don't have a confirmed spot by email from Bob, please don't gum up the works. If you are not a confirmed part of the core volunteers, do not show up before your "Not Earlier Than Date".

Thank you in advance.
