West is out too, only way is south and right now, it looks like memphis is the only open crossing over the mississippi.

Floods in Dec of 2015 closed I-55 for about 24 hours. Right now they are calling for a crest better than 4 feet below 2015 levels. Thatll keep off the highway, but its still gonna be close.

Stay tuned.

Tim
Tim, check the new Bill Emerson bridge over the Mississippi at Cape Girardeau. It is new enough, and built high enough, that it should still be open. Take I-57 up through Carbondale to I-64, then take I-64 east to Aurora, IN.

If your Tadpole attending 5th wheel is looking for a king pin TRIPOD, shout out or PM and I'll strap a BAL steel tri legged contraption to the bike rack for you. Fully functional and super cheap ($40) delivered, however it looks like rain most of the way so plan for a late arrival on Thursday. It can also be used as an anchor if you need to cross the Mississippi River on the way home.

SitRep:

I-55 Southbound finally closed today at around noon. Northbound is still open, but expected to close around 8 or 9. River expected to crest tonight at midnight, however the level wont fall quickly.

Authorities are "cautiously optimistic" that they can keep 2 side routes open over the Meramec River. If that is the case, we should be good for leaving in the morning, but I imagine traffic will be an absolute bastard. There is a crossing in Chester Illinois over the Mississippi that is expected to close tomorrow, however, getting to the bridge is probably a no-go for us as almost all roads on this side approaching are flooded.

I'll know for sure in the morning what we are going to do or when we can do it.

Tim

River crested harder than they expected. I-55 is OPEN. We'll be jacks-up at around 8am. I've been a nervous wreck the last few days. Huge relief!

Hats off to the Tadpole host for helping to provide some quality entertainment. Demonstrations on how one water related FRF member continues to keep his name, again! How not to back a 30ft camper into a 60ft site! And how to turn a 6hr road trip into a 10hr ordeal! Also inebriated water heater repair, and registration doesn't start for another 8 hours.
