Coming from north, how about 155 from 24 to 40?

From the South

I'll be coming in from the south on I24. Should I get off at Hwy 840 and take it to I40 or should I come up closer to Nashville and take Hwy 255 (runs right by the airport)? Or stay interstate and get on the loop and off at I40 East? Thanks

Satdog01, Thanks for that info. I now see that loop mess near the airport. Will steer clear of it. The Knoxville loop will be a game time decision I suppose. Slow and steady will git er done. Looking forward to rally.

840 will avoid some traffic, however it's 15 miles more driving. 255 (Harding Place) is two lane with traffic lights. 155 (Thompson Lane/Briley Pkwy) is four lane divided also with 15 -20 stoplights. Your best bet is the 1mile loop between 440 & 40 east to Knoxville. Then you are only 5 miles to the Shores. After you pull up Monteagle Mountain outside Chattanooga stop at the rest area as you top the hill. Great view of TN if you pull around the building and stop curbside. The next five miles is a real brake check opportunity.

From the north get off 24 at exit #43 and follow the signs to airport. This if 155 (Briley Pkwy), you will loop down and back under the road to head east. FYI exit 12 on 155 is the Opry complex and Camping World but don't stop with your tailer in tow, parking lot is too small. Exit 6a off 155 will point you east to Knoxville, then 5 miles to the shores.

Thank you for the advice!! This is exactly what I will do, to include the stop at the rest area. Good opportunity to use the exhaust brake....love that thing. Thanks
