Bob, I'm not sure any "formal" organization concerning Opry attendance has taken place. I know some of the local attendees have suggested getting tickets early due to selling out especially on the Friday and Saturday night shows. I'm not familiar enough with the Opry to tackle organizing a trip. I'm sure folks want to attend, I just don't know the ends and outs of it.

Hi All - I live across the parkway from the Grand Ole Opry complex.... BD is correct, during the summer months, the Friday and Saturday shows are often sold out. All you see are the large tour buses in the parking lots from all over. In order to get "Group Rates" we would need a minimum of 20 people to commit to the Friday night show. If there are 20, I will arrange it for the group.

If you have never been to the Opry, its something to see. It is the longest continuous running radio show in history.. yes, you are actually attending a radio show! Its a little different the first time you go there and expect a 'concert' but its actually a radio show,... you still get all the performances as you would expect with a concert, but you also get the commercials, etc. Its very cool.

PM me if you are willing to commit to the 20 group and I will find out about pricing, etc.

thanks!

We booked our own tickets online early this morning. Section 20 front Row Mezzanine, great seats for good sound and views of the stage. Being a TV and Sound guy I am picky
I want to go the Opry but am really looking forward to the Band Camper Dan has booked for us on Saturday Night.

I have the group information from Orpy and the cost was the same and one credit card had to secure all tickets with a 20% deposit. There are many rules on cancellation etc.

If Dan or someone wants to follow up here is the information I had received.

gotcha John!

Actually, ya'll have done a boatload of work already and far be it from me to suggest yet another job for you

For folks who are First Timers to Nashville, there is tons of stuff to do - your biggest limitation is going to be time!

Camper Dan is a native, so maybe he can post a few of his "Do Not Miss" sites to see.

Personally, I think the Parthenon is pretty cool

This is our first Frog event so we don't want too miss out on any of the social events especially the meet and greet . We have never been to Nashville, so if time allows we may venture around some.

Are you guy's talking about the NEW Grand OLE Opry? That place is just gigantic. You could spend a whole day there. You might be able to get everything through the gray lines. They would even pick people up at the CG. The old one that I think B&B remembers is with Minnie Pearl and place is now a museum. IT's kinda like OC and his trailer......

I do remember the Old one too... Listening on AM to 650 WSM as a kid in the 60's. I am not as old as others but older than OC's trailer, also I have not been modified from my original manufacture date

I beg your pardon, my trailer is only 3 yrs old and is more up to date with functional improvements than the ones rolling off the production floor, so put that in your pipe and smoke it!

FT Old Coot, What is the truth to your story? You said "more up to date with functional improvements than the ones rolling off the production floor". and how do you sign on?

The Ryman Auditorium is the original location of the Grand Ole Opry, and is referred to as the "Mother Church of Country Music". While it is somewhat of a museum, you can take tours, it is also still a working music venue with concerts all the time. Ricky Skaggs will be playing there on 7/30, and there are sure to be more bookings coming up. It's also not just a country music venue. I think "Alice in Chains" is playing the following week. There is someone playing, somewhere, almost 24/7, and you never know who is going to pop in, sing a song or two, and leave. Lady Antebellum released one of their new singles at Puckett's Grocery (a restaurant) last year.

Shuttle Bus?

Was it mentioned earlier in the thread that the CG (or some company) would be providing shuttle service to downtown Nashville? If so, that will be a godsend!! (parking sucks in downtown Nashville )

Campground is supplying a shuttle @ a cost per individual per round trip ride I believe.

John?

That works for me! leave the driving and parking to someone else! We can go visit music Row on Saturday, drink beer at Tootsies maybe, see John R Cash Museum, return to camp and have catered meal and drink more beer , listen to a great Band (thanks Dan), then have beer tasting ala Nashville style.

I actually think I enjoyed one of the beers you brought but cannot remember what it was.
