So I'm contemplating Mt Airy In early May they have a festival of some sort going on then. Those of you that have been to this area, are there any good campground recommendations? I was thinking maybe Mayberry campground. Any experience good or bad with this one? Thanks

With springtime in the mountains being an overwhelming favorite and summer in the mountains a distant second, what does everyone think about Memorial day weekend? We could do Friday to Monday or Tuesday? I'm still debating on the mountain location but Mt Airy (Mayberry, where Andy Griffith show was filmed) is a strong candidate. So are the Asheville and Grandfather Mountain areas.

I would like that, Maybe can even help. I prefer the mountains in late spring Trout fishing, and the beach in the summer would be fun. Keep working on it, It would be fun Ashland has a ton of stuff to do, and boone is just a great area. So count me in. ...

We're in! Spring is a good time to shake down the RV for the upcoming season. Earlier this year we traveled to Asheville! Went to Maggie Valley and the Biltmore. Great fun!

There is just so much to do in Asheville Area. A little bit for everyone besides being one of the prettiest Towns in NC. But I'm open for anything and anytime, about time for a rally in NC..... keep your nose to grind stone and don't tease us...

Memorial Day would work for us as well Ally!

Took a Look at the Mayberry RV CG - not bad! 100+ Sites - we could have a BIG rally

What CGs are you thinking on in Ashville & Grandfather Mtn?

We already have reservations at Mountain Stream RV Park in Marion for a week over Memorial Day weekend so would not be able to attend. Darn the bad luck.

When he gets back from Alaska we are putting in 6 sites to include electric water and sewer. I have been talking to Frankie while he has been gone....

We would be for Spring in the Mountains. Mt. Airy or Asheville. Both are nice. I did see there is a campground between Asheville and Grandfather Mountain right off the Blueridge Parkway called Bear Den that looks pretty nice on their web site.

Looks nice but it only has 37 RV sites according to their map. The rest are cabins or tent sites. Reviews show them as a little tight for big rig access.
