NC Rally- anyone interested in one?

I have been tossing around the idea of organizing a rally in North Carolina. I'm trying to get a feel of interest in this. If I do this, would people be more interested in the beach, the mountains, or the Raleigh-Durham area? I know there are already a lot of fall rallies so I thought I'd skip a fall colors trip for this rally and maybe plan for Spring or Summer. Maybe sometime between April and June. April or May would be good for Raleigh-Durham area. June or July would be good for the beach. The mountains could do either. I'm thinking maybe a 4 day rally. Thanks.

I'm interested. We normally take off early June and return end of Oct., so spring would work for us.

Great idea and I hope you get enough response to make it happen. We are currently in OR where we attended the Oregon FROG Rally for the third year in a row. It would be great if NC could get a FROG Rally going for several years running.

One note, FROG Bob and Cindy would likely not come in spring due to Goshen. They might be able to attend a fall rally.

Would definitely try to attend!

And sense I live on the coast, I'm always looking for a reason to go to the mountains!

Yes I would be interested as well. Lets hope you can make it happen. I know Bob and Cindy could attend as they where at the June Rally we where at in Ohio. Depends probably on timing.

Can you provide what type of activities are in and around Durham or the mountains. Could better make a decision on location. Thanks.
Later RJD

Would be very interested. Mountains in the fall - is always a great time. Blue ridge parkway is great. Some nice easy waterfall hikes around Asheville. Could tour Biltmore. Motor cycle museum in Maggie Valley. Frequent art shows. Outdoor theater in Cherokee and Boone.

In addition to above, the mountains also have tweetsie railroad in boone (great for kids not so much adults), Grandfather mountain, Brown Mountain lights, blowing rock, Hooker falls and much more depending on the area we settle on.

In Raleigh/Durham I would pick Jones Family Campground in Mebane. There are Tanger outlets in Mebane. the Duke Chapel and Sara Duke Gardens as well as Duke tobacco plantation, natural history museum and bright leaf square (where the low bridge video accidents are filmed) all in Durham about 30 min away. Chapel hill with UNC is 30 minutes away. Raleigh has several museums and is 45-50 min away. The zoo is about an hour in Lexington. Several wineries within 15 min to an hour as well. Good bBQ in this area.... Maybe talk to FROG about a catered BBQ dinner?????

The beach would probably be Rodanthe on the outer banks. Lots to do there. Out of time on lunch break. I will update tha later.

Mt. Airy area? Pilot Mountain? Did a quick 1 day stop over there this summer. Would like to go back again. Andy Griffith home, Snappy Lunch, courthouse replica and original Wally's Filling Station & squad car tours etc. There are also a couple of nearby wineries we would check out also.

However,......Mayberry Days Festival is at the end of September. www.mayberrydays.org/

Just my $.02.........

I would like to second the Mt. Airy area. My wife and I camped there a couple of years ago and really enjoyed the area. We are already planning a trip to Nashville and Memphis in the spring of next year with my brother and his wife so we would be unable to attend during March and April of 2016. But we would be interested in something later in the year. Please keep us informed. Thanks,

Go For IT

Go for it and we will be there. My wife and I have made the choice to attend as many rallies as possible. Since the two RV Clubs we belong to are on the decline, we wish to travel more on our own and have found a rally to be full of fun, friends, and food. The three F's.

We would be interested!! Mt. Airy might be kewl beans. We did not vote in the poll - add us though I would vote for Raleigh area in spring. DH would vote for summer at the beach. I don't think it really matters to us - would love to go to our first rally anytime in our home state.

Ok, as promised the beach list of things to do includes the Wright brothers memorial, several lighthouses, the lost colony, the NC aquarium, Elizabethan gardens, wildlife refuge and more.
