Waltz Across Texas -- March 5-16, 2014

Waltz Across Texas

March 5 – March 16, 2014

Texas is big, and a two-step won’t begin to get you across it. So we’re doing three steps – and three stops -- as we Waltz Across Texas.

Long before it became famous as the site of a famous battle resisting General Santa Anna’s Mexican army, the Alamo was part of a string of quiet Franciscan missions across south Texas. On our stop in San Antonio we’ll visit the Alamo, along with other missions, the Texas Ranger Museum, the Buckhorn Saloon, and more. We’ll take a cruise on the San Antonio River when we visit the famous River Walk.

Moving on to Austin, we’ll take in the Texas State Capitol and Governor’s Mansion (if it’s available) and tour the Hill Country and the LBJ Ranch and Texas White House.

Dallas and Fort Worth sprawl over a huge area. Our base in Grapevine will provide great access to both. We’ll tour Dallas and learn about the history and highlights of the city. We’ll relive the events of November 22, 1963 as we visit Dealey Plaza, site of President Kennedy’s assassination, and tour the Sixth Floor Museum, formerly the Texas School Book Depository. A vintage railroad will take us to see the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards District, and we’ll stop by the AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, to see the art and architecture.

Your "Waltz Across Texas" includes:
  • 11 Nights of Full Hookup Camping -- 4 in San Antonio, 3 in Austin, 4 in Grapevine (Dallas/Forth Worth area)
  • 3 Dinnersr
  • 3 Lunches
  • 3 Continental Breakfasts
  • Tour of the Alamo, Riverwalk, Cruise on the San Antonio River, Mission San José, Mission Concepción, Japanese Sunken Gardens, Buckhorn Saloon & Museum, Texas Ranger Museum, Mercado
  • Tour of Texas State Capitol and Texas Governor’s Mansion (if available)
  • Tour of LBJ Ranch and Texas Hill Country
  • Visit to Dealey Plaza and Sixth Floor Museum (formerly the Texas School Book Depository)
  • Dallas Highlights Tour
  • Tour of AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys
  • Train tour to Fort Worth Stockyards Historic District
All of this and more is only $1,495 for two adults in an RV, or $1,025 for one adult in an RV. Additional persons age 12+ are $470, age 6-11 are $350, and children under age 6 are free.

Join FROG in the Lone Star State, where the stars at night are big and bright, deep in the heart of Texas.

Is that 3 breakfast, lunch, dinners per day or over 12 days?

Bob, if there is anything we can do to help here in SanAntonio, let me know, for those coming, March can be wet, cold, or hot! I would bring a few of both! We will not be able to join, due to a schedule conflict, but would love to come over for a few minutes and meet you guys. Lori

Sounds like a fun time to be had.

I am taking our Wildcat in for a few warranty items later today, let me see what their time frame is for the services required and we will see where we stand.

The three different stops you have scheduled are all fantastic Texas locations to explore. Don't forget that if you are going to drive out to the LBJ Ranch it's just a skip or two down the road to Luckenbach, TX....not much there, but at least you could say you've been there. And on down the road from the LBJ Ranch is Fredricksburg, TX. Great food, shops and don't miss the Nimitz Museum for the history is offers.

Hope to have you with us in Texas. We can stop at Luckenbach and see Waylon and Willie and the boys.

I believe we'll be stoping at the Nimitz Museum on the way to the ranch.

We are considering waltz-across-texas. What is the weather/temperature like in Texas in early March?
It could be iffy getting out of Iowa in March!

Texas weather is very unpredictable to call that far in advance. I would be willing to say it will be warmer than Iowa, but wouldn't care to say by how much.

If it helps any, tomorrow it is to be somewhere in the mid 70s. But I have seen snow and ice as far as San Antonio in mid Feb.

One thing you can be assured of is a warm Texas Welcome!!!!

Well it turns out it was good we did not pull the trigger on this, the money instead went toward surgery on my DW's cat today.
