What to Expect at Goshen?
We are new to FROG and Goshen will be our first large gathering. We've been registered for several months and seen the list of optional day trips which sound great. Now what we'd like to know (so we can make informed choices) is what will be happening at the fairgrounds? If anyone has access to this year's schedule or can post last year's it would help us decide which or how many of the day trips to choose. We don't want to miss anything!

Newbies Also!
We were wondering the same thing - are there any tours included already, like factory tours or anything?

Welcome new FROG's! Glad to hear you are going to Goshen too! I am looking forward to knowing what may be going on during the day around the camp as well. We won't be doing any of the tours because we will be bringing our Harley to ride during the day.....but just in case we do spend the day at the campground, it would be nice to know what is going on!

New stuff for me too. Never been to a rally before.
Will there be activities like "pot Luck" etc?
DW wants to know about what to bring.
Cooking for 300 is a little different than for two.

We have breakfast and most dinners as a group, lunches are on your own. There will be seminars, new models to tour and time to do your own thing. We will be going to the big flea market in Shiawassee (I think that that is the name). You will be so busy you will wonder where the week went. You can do as much or as little as you want.

Here's a thought ladies and gentlemen, let's leave this thread for legitimate questions about the rally. There are already two other threads about the rally that have hundreds of posts that have little or no information concerning the rally.

I was looking at the optional tours that will be available for the 2013 rally and I don't see where any of them include a trip the RV Hall of Fame. I hope Bob (F.R.O.G.) will correct me if I am wrong about that. Regardless, for anyone visiting Goshen, the RV Hall of Fame is a "must do."
The factory tours last year were great and Forest River provided transportation to the factories. After visiting the Cedar Creek factory last year I knew I had made the right choice in choosing our Silverback.
During the rally there were quite a few seminars. My favorite was Mac the Fire Guy, but I was disappointed that I wasn't chosen to put out the fire.
The breakfasts and dinners that were provided to rally attendees last year were excellent. We also had three nights of excellent entertainment at last year's rally.
Forest River also had quite a few of their RVs on display at the Elkhart fairground. I drooled over a Trilogy that was on display and the Aviator drew a lot of positive comments from folks.
If you can only do one rally, this is the one to attend. It defines the word bargain.

Last year we did not find any of the planned tours to suit us so we did our own trip to the RV Hall of Fame and Museum and then over to South Bend to see Notre Dame and the College Football Hall of Fame.
Another afternoon we went and toured an Amish furniture factory that had made our dining room set 2 years ago.
Also for nights when meals were not provided a group of us got together and went to dinner at a couple of the GREAT Amish Restaurants in the area.
Besides the RV Show there was an area where vendors were selling their wares that was good time spent.
Another thought is talk to new folks. We found a "young" man who was from our hometown and he had graduated from the same high school.....1 year earlier. Also met some fine folks who were from Mars, PA.....the town that one of the ships that I was on WAY back in the 60's was named after. You never know who you might find next.
Come with an open mind and get ready for an adventure.

This will be our first "International" rally with Forest River, yet we picked up our 5'er in Shipshewana in October and really enjoyed touring the town and visiting the flea market (which was getting read to close for the winter), great fun. Check out the website Official Shipshewana Website - Info for Shipshewana Events, Shops, Restaurants, Attractions and more | Shipshewana Amish Country for more info. I understand that there is a horse auction some weeks at the flea market, which might be fun to see too.
Can't wait for the Rally!

Thanks to all who have replied to our post so far. Doesn't seem like anyone has the schedule to help us know which optional tours may conflict with really great presentations at the fairgrounds. We see the optional tour schedule and the general list of planned activities on the FROG website, but so far no way to coordinate the two. We may have to just take a leap and hope for the best; pun intended.

I like your priorities there Lou. As my wifes always says " A way to a man's heart , is through his belly".

The Goshen rally is still over two and a half months away so the schedule of seminars probably isn’t set yet. For that matter they may not have all the presenters lined up yet.
Last year many of the seminars had more than one presentation so just about everyone had the opportunity to attend those they were interested in. I wouldn’t hold off signing up for the optional tours since there will probably be a limited number of spots available.

This our first rally we've gone to like this. Now I'm worried that I opt'd for 4 tours and will we miss other things that would be just as fun. I've read alot of the doings that are happenings including Phat Phrog Stunt Crew plans. I guess it is a week of winging it.

Here's a link to some of the things that you might want to consider in and around Goshen while you're in the area:
http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...hen-33993.html
During the week at the fairgrounds, there will be meals most evenings (Sun, Mon, Wed, and Fri) and every morning (Mon-Sat). These will be full meals -- as Mom used to say, "If you leave hungry, it;s your own darn fault." There will be entertainment after dinner on Mon, Wed, and Fri.
We're working right now on a schedule of seminars, particularly early in the week. There will be a vendor area and an RV display going on through most of the week. The current plan is to have at least double the number of service techs that we had last year -- we worked those poor guys half to death.
There will be two days of plant tours, and a third if necessary, most likely on Tue, Wed, and, if needed, Thu. The optional tours are being scheduled Tue, Wed, Thu, and Fri. We're taking a unique approach to an ice cream social.
I understand that the Phat Phrog Stunt Team has offered to help with the demolition of the bridge. Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed.
Finally, I noticed some comments about the RV/MH Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame. The RV/MH Hall of Fame has an RV show going on late in the week, so we chose not to go there because of the traffic mess and admission issues to the show. The Hall will be open during the show, but there might be a show admission in addition to the Hall admission. The College Football Hall of Fame closed last year and is being moved to Atlanta. The Studebaker Museum, also located in South Bend, is alive and well.

Goshen
If you have the chance, you should tour the Rockwood/Flagstaff plant where they make the signature ultralights. We have been ther twice and enjoyed both.

Thanks for the info Bob.
I think ppstc is planning demo of bridge regardless of what those engineers say.
All in on Ice cream social twist!
