Battery Inverter

Can't afford a generator right now, but I am looking at a $200 battery invertor on Amazon. I believe this device will allow me to watch tv, run an electric heater, or plug in small appliances when boondocking. I don't want to use power from the TT batteries. Anybody ever try something like this?

It would be good for items up to 200 watts. (Link to specs). This would not include such things as a heater, coffee maker, microwave, electric frying pan, or anything like that. It could run a small tv for a short time, or a laptop computer, phone charger, or other small draw things.
It all depends on how you want to use it.

About all that will do is run a TV and recharge electronic devices.

No way will it run an electric heater.

It says it can charge an iPhone 10 times. No way it's going to run an electric heater or anything much more than a phone or tablet.

That Champion generator for $300, is not appropriate for campground usage. Too Loud!

I know cause I own one.

It is fine for dispersed or motor race camping and home backup power.

The Champion 2000 inverter for $649.99 sounds like a good deal, and is comparable to a Honda 2000 for noise. I have the 3100 watt version and it has been 100% reliable, the same as the 2000 Watt Honda it replaced.

That's expensive for that model.
You can find better prices than that.

You are correct sir. $546 right now at Camping World. (Link)
Likely cheaper elsewhere too.

Dan, so if we are only doing "Hot" camping in the desert, which is the only time we would need the 4000 (we currently have a 2000) do you think this would be a good buy? You say it's loud??? the ad says "With a noise level of 68db, itís quiet Ė only 8db above normal conversation." so I was wondering how it sounded.
or besides Cabela's having their sale, right now we could get the Predator 4000. Do you know anything about the Predator??
