I too want to hear about some spots....I travel through Eastern KS every few months and think a Boondocking spot inthe Flint hills would be awesome. Still have not come up with anything.

Most if not all of the Corps Lakes in Kansas have state campgrounds and corps campgrounds and each has sites with and without hookups. Often the best sites are those without hookups. The sites without hookups are around $8/night and hookups about double that. With the old age passport you can camp free at the federal areas without hookups or half price for the hookups. The state has an annual camp permit that you can purchase that does essentially the same thing for any age group.

Montgomery state fishing lake has free camping, no hookups, water, or trash service. Small but pretty. Elk City Reservoir has both federal and state campgrounds. Big Hill Lake is also a Corps lake and has federal and state campgrounds. All of these are in SE Kansas around Independence. Elk City has lots of hiking trails. All have lots of trees and shade. Big Hill offers clearer water than Elk City and a nice swimming beach.

Boondocking in Ks.

Well, I guess you come up and camp in my back yard............ I'm a mile away from Tuttle Puddle. We camped there one time and decided we just as well be back home in the driveway. Lake was down, dirty water, ATV er's making lots of noise. Only had elect. hookups, water was ruined during the 93 flooding. But if you go down to the south end of the lake there are several areas that are better.
So now we go 30 miles to Farnum Creek over at Milford Lake
Whole lot better lake, nice and clean, we like it. Milford has several other park areas around the lake. I think you can boondock quite a few places at either lake. There are quite a few lakes in Ks. you shouldnt find it hard to find one you like
