It seems as if inverter generators are the way to go. I have read about honda, yamaha, boliy and other brands on this forum but does anybody use lifan inverter generators. Also what is minimum wattage generator needed for RV with 13500 AC. I live in the south and AC is a MUST. Lifan makes a 3600 and a 5600. Is 5600 overkill. The 3600 is supposed to run at 57db and the 5600 at 59db

I used to have a Boliy 3600 electric start for my 30 amp 5th wheel.
120 x30 amps = 3600 watts but you will never use that much all at the same time.
The Boliy is resonable in sound level unless you want to payt big bucks for a Honda.

Iggy, why did you get rid of your Boliy? When you bought that thing, your descriptions and video made me want to plunk down the cash for one immediately! Did you not need it anymore, or did something happen? Forgive me if you covered this in another post, I haven't been on too much lately. Thanks!

Yes I sold it locally after I bought my Georgetown which has a 5500 Onan so I didn't need it. I actually sold it on Craigslist for what I paid for it.
It was great and I was able to lift it into my PU bed by myself.
I checked out the Honda and it was way to heavy for one person to lift into PU bed. If you plan on dry camping a lot I'd get a Boliy.
We had a honda 3000 watt genny and sold it to buy a boliy.We liked the honda but at 130 lbs vs the 70lbs boliy, my back likes that better plus the honda is is rated at 2800 watts running and 3000 max whereas the boliy has 3000 watts running and 3300 watts max. We have not used our new boliy yet but so far in comparison to our honda sound seems the same. I have not heard of lifan so I can't help there
Was concerned about service (warranty or not) on the boliy. Can buy Lifan from Home Depot but have not had any feed back from anyone on a Lifan inverter generator

Your slide should operate on battery--you shouldnt need a generator to open it, unless something very different is going on in the RV industry...
That said, if you still want a generator, you won't go wrong with the Champion 3100...lots of good experience on here with that model.

I agree and +1 on the champion 3100. Buy it online from Amazon, free prime shipping and no tax, on your doorstep in 2-3 days. They have a remote start version for a few bucks more that could be handy for firing up the coffee machine on a cold morning without going outside to pull start the generator. Remote start models are heavier though cause of the starter motor and battery. The regular model is like 75 pounds, and has wheels built in and a pull handle, very convenient.
+2 on the champion, there is nothing competing with it on the market at the price, weight and power range. Just tested it on the rear rack of a bh17 and not only did it run a/c, fridge (just as a test) and the microwave, it did it on econo, no vibration and could barely hear it at the bed head that was on the end of the trailer.

We just came back from our first boondocking trip - Big Bend Natl. Park. I'm using the Champion 2800/3100 which started and ran our 15000 BTU A/C. HOWEVER I had to turn everything in the camper to off in order to get the A/C started. Once it was running I could turn everything back on and switch the generator to eco mode and it performed beautifully at low rpm's. I'm considering having a "hard start" kit installed on the A/C.
