Thanksgiving boondocking

So, do any of you head to the woods with your RV for the holidays? My family (siblings and nephews) have met up at a favorite dry spot in the national Forest nearby a few times over the years. Those of us with campers, 5 of us, take our tts and fivers and spend the week in the woods. Others without campers will come out thursday morning for the day. I expect about 30 this year. Some will hunt, some will read, some sleep, but all will eat. This year it's gumbo for Thanksgiving meal. At night we play rook, watch movies and football (no NFL this year) and eat ice cream.
Biggest change this time is Mom went into nursing home in the spring and may not be able to go. Depending on how she feels Thursday morning.

Do any of you do something like this?Click image for larger version

When we lived in FL for several years we did this on most major Holidays.
Now that we are back up north, we can't do Thanksgiving and other winter Holidays as we winterize here by November 1st and already have snow on the ground as we speak.

We still do other Holidays. I've got 40 acres and I've added 6 power pedestals and temporary water (drain in winter) for everyone to have some hook-ups so not so much boondocking anymore.

It is always great fun and a good opportunity to get everyone together.
I hope your Mom can make it. My parents are both gone and we lost my MIL a month ago. Enjoy them while they are here.

I'm jealous. Not only do you appear to have the weather to camp on Thanksgiving Day but you also have family members who also own RV's to do this get together..

Have fun in the woods and enjoy your planned activities; they sound perfect!

We boondock most holidays throughout the winter with a large group, circle the wagons in the desert so to speak. This year will be 10 in a row and counting. Leaving work early Wednesday.

What a great week. Temps at night were 29 - 39. Days were 50s to 60s. Perf. My new champion 3000 inverter generator with remote was the envy of everyone. Now my brother, brother in law and nephew want to scrap their open frames for the remote model. It was so convenient. Push the button, make coffee. Push the button, turn power off and go to sleep after a good movie in bed. Love it.
We had 33 for Thanksgiving dinner. Turns out we had 2 gumbo's, fried turkey, a smoked ham and all the trimmings. It was good.
God is good. Even Mom rode out with her sister after lunch to visit a while.

With that kind of crowd and so much goodies the weather was passed by as a consideration in my mind. Looks like good times.
