208BHS Murphy Bed - modifications, new mattress?

Hi,
This is our first summer with our 208BHS (never owned a TT before), and we have the Murphy bed option which we find very useful. However, as we find the factory bed that comes it uncomfortable, we added a 2" foam topper which made it a little better. But now, I am finding that every time I sleep on this bed, my back hurts. This is due to the couch cushion being softer than the plywood floor which the other half of the bed sits on. The transition is right in the middle of my back, and since one section is hard, while the other is soft, the section on the couch cushion sinks and the bed is uneven.

Anyone else have the same issue? A new bed might help a little, but would not solve the uneven base problem. Any solutions?

Thanks.

Murphy bed modification 208BHS

I took an old thick queen bed comforter, folded it in half and placed it under the mattress on the non sofa part, so it leveled the mattress out. Without doing that, it was uneven because the sofa bumps the mattress up. Then I went to Costco and I purchased a high end mattress topper. I think it was around $140. With that combination my wife says it is very comfortable and that she sleeps very well on it. She has a bad back and is very sensitive to uncomfortable beds. this seemed to work for us on that Murphy bed and that particular low quality mattress.
