290BHDS furnace vent question

I just went out for the "test" trip for my new 2013 292bhds. No big problems! I'm puzzled by the lack of a furnace vent in the bedroom. The vent on the wall to the right of the bed is acting like an air return instead of an air outlet. That doesn't make much sense to me. I pulled the slotted panel to access the furnace and I see three large ducts and two small ducts. The three ducts feed three outlets that I see in the bunk area, under the fridge, and by the door. I assume one of the small ducts goes to the enclosed storage. Have no idea on the other one.

Is this bedroom duct supposed to blow air instead of pull air in?

On my 1st TT so no expert by any means. But what you describe
is EXACTLY how mine is setup. Clearly what FR intended.......

cheers,
johnd

PS. Just re-installed my furnace (30K BTU) and found that the
unused "knockout" panels leak like the White House! My furnace
is under the sofa and could give one a "hot seat" with all the
leaked air. Got 600 degree sealant (gasket stuff) from
O'Rielly's Auto Supply and no more leaks.......

Others might want to check; the leaking air reduced air
flow from my regular ducts......

Hmmm, I'll have to check that out. Only ran the furnace once to test it's function but did not check air flow. Why the h would they not put heat into the bedroom area?

Amen.
With the air intake in the bedroom, you get the heat last.
And everything including the Dogs' f@rts will end up
being sucked in there.....
Open them windows!!

cheers,
johnd

Okay a little further investigation... I called my dealer and they said there should be a strong flow from the br vent. I checked it a little more and there actually is a little bit of flow. It felt like it was taking air in but it actually blows air out just very light. Probably have a kinked duct. That's not going to be a cheap warranty repair since it'll require opening the enclosed belly.

Hmmmm, you got me thinking, so I looked at mine
again. Our campers may not be exactly the same
as I first thought, but here is what I saw in mine.

The bedroom vent is simply a hole in the wall between
the bedroom and the "under sofa" area where the furnace
sits. There is a louver - but no filter - over the bedroom
"vent". It is not really a vent as there is NO duct work
connected to it at all. What happens is that the furnace
draws in room air from under the sofa. That air comes
from the bedroom "vent" and from normal openings around
the sofa. There is NO provision to pump output air to
the bedroom. With the leakage of output air that I found,
some of that _might_ have shot out the bedroom vent
instead of being sucked back into the furnace air inlet.
Seems like an accident of sloppy design and/or construction
though. If it happened at all.

And, of course, there seems to be no way to add an inlet
filter that would have any chance of working. The furnace
draws air in from the side, top, and combustion chamber
end - no way to add an inlet duct without totally reworking
the outer case......
[sigh]
