320BHDS AC blows when furnace is on
It got cold enough here last night for the first time where the electric fireplace wasn't keeping up, so we turned on the furnace and set temp to 70. I was quite suprised to have the ac unit kick on, I knew that the heat comes out of the floor vents and not the ac vents in ceiling.
So my question here is obvious, anyone else have this happen or am I doing something wrong somehow? It dosnt blow cold ac, is it suppose to come on as some sort of circulator?? Any help is appreciated!

If your thermostat is like mine, you should set it on FAN - not COOL or HEAT and use + or - keys to set the FAN to auto (AU) and not LO or HI.

set your digital thermostat to "auto" instead of low or high and it should work fine....

I have not tried it yet, it's suppose to be a high of 60 this Saturday when we're back out, I'm sure to find out then. As far as the heat strip I doubt it, there was good heat out of the floor vents at the time, just also blowing air from ac vents.

My 290 BHS does the same thing, when the heat is on the AC fan runs all the time in order to circulate the warm air. My furnace heat blows out in the kitchen area, if the fan didn't run my bedroom would get very cold (when doors are closed).

Same thing happened to me. Turned thermostat to Auto setting and 69 degrees. Outside temp was 52. The furnace came on and then the living room a/c came on. Had to sit it down and wait a few minutes. Restarted it and it worked fine.

Hi you probably have an A/C unit with an chill chaser electric heater in the A/C return air. On a call for heat the T Stat will start the furnace and the A/C fan and electric heating element in the return air of the A/C unit. If you check the temp of the air leaving the A/C unit when the heat is running it is probably warm. My A/C chill chaser unit will raise the discharge air temp 10 - 15 degrees above the air entering the return air of the A/C.

I just turn breaker off for AC when summer is over. Don't have to worry about how thermostat is set.

If you have the digital thermostat, turn the thermostat to "fan" then use the up/down arrows to put it on AU (auto). If the AC fan is blowing when you put the heat on it is because you have it on "lo" or "hi" under the fan setting.
Putting it on "AU" (auto) will only cycle the fan when you call for AC. I ran into this issue last year and posted on here and was told the above which resolved the problem.

Yes to your question about circulator for the heater. Most all mfgr provided this feature for some time now. Most don't like it and place the Therm in au.
