360ibl kitchen slide problem

Hey all... just picked up our 2016 Chapparal 360ibl last Saturday. I was (or so I thought) super careful doing our PDI, but somehow I missed what I think is a problem with the kitchen slide out (farthest rear slide on drivers side).

What first tipped me off was a deep scratch on the floor about 4" long in front of the couch... parallel to the couch. I was unable to feel b or see anything on the underside of the slide out in this area. I then went outside to check the underside of the slide out and found the black tarp like material was all torn up on bottom of the slide out, in about a 6" strip.

I am gonna take it back and have the dealer look at it, but has anyone else had any problems like this?

No, not at all. Sounds like it wasn't assembled correctly.

I wonder if one of the rollers came off the slide, glad you caught it

Sanibel with same issue

Was surprised to see your issue exactly as ours presented itself. We had a scratch and right next to it, a gouge in the flooring in front of the couch on the first slide out of our 2015, and twice since then.

They have repaired the flooring all 3 times. Just recently had it done again. Seems to be an issue with the pressure from the slide moving in and out. First time they pulled the couch out, pulled the panel and filed the screws they thought were rubbing. It scratched the same spot again. Now they blame it on the heavy 8 cubic ft refrigerator that the manufacturer says is causing issues on other units as well. Going to provide us with some slides to use to help it. Don't know if this helps or not. We are still in the process.
Best of luck....

Wow... interesting stuff LEhart! I sure hope they find a fix for this! Has it been repaired 3 times in 2 yrs under warranty or have they extended warranty on it since it is a repeating problem?

Anyone else with this floor plan and the 8 cuft fridge seeing this issue?

Hey shorthorn,

The trailer is still under a two year warranty and yes they have fixed it all three times. We cringe every time we put the slide out. They said that we would get some kind of gliders to put down to help the slide come in smoother. Haven't got them yet as this was just a week ago.

We've had our 2015 Chaparral 360IBL for a year and 3 months now and haven't had this problem. I'm just trying to envision this. I imagine a teeter-totter (showing my age here). When one side is heavier than the other, it LIFTS the other side, not makes it heavier for it to make a gouge in front of the couch. Unless the whole frame of the slide is bending in the middle? Let us know how it goes in case we do start having this problem.

18 months with ours as well and no issues with the slides and leaving marks. Clearly an issue somewhere with it as it is obviously not normal.

So last night we camped in the driveway because of the kids being in midst of baseball season... I ran the furnace and was getting next to no heat in the living room while the bedrooms were hot.... guess the dealer gets another call Monday...

The rear of mine heats very slowly compared to the front bedroom, bathroom, and mid bunk. You can feel heat coming out though. I generally set the thermostat for 72 and set the fireplace heat for auto - 75. That seems to be a nice medium.

Same here.. The rear vent is the last vent on the duct run so it will get the least. I do the same thing with the fireplace. In fact, I usually only use the fireplace as it keeps the camper warm all the way down to the low 40s outside.

Nope. Our first trip out Columbus Day weekend of 2014 it got down to 39 degrees and 41 degrees 2 of the 3 nights. We had the fireplace on high all night long with the master bedroom door closed half way and kept the bunk room door open about 1/4 of the way. The heat only turned on once on one of the nights and we were very comfortable.

Why use the propane heat when you can use the campground's electricity for the fireplace?? lol.

Incase you didn't think of it, I use the electric water heater instead of the gas as well. Again, why use your propane when you can use the campsite's electricity.

Just to follow up... I am finally going to pick up the unit tonight. Dealer has had it for a week repairing the slide out issue in the kitchen and the heat dispersion issue...

On the kitchen slide out.. I am told they found the factory had used a screw that was too long and the point of that screw was sticking out the bottom of the slide out and scratching the floor.. they ground off the screw point. For the bottom side of the slide out that was getting torn up they found the roller was dragging and not turning. We will see how that goes in the coming weeks.

As for the heat.. I really like the solution the dealer came up with (we will see how it goes)... They noted alot of air flow out the heat register for the bunk room and the master bedroom so they installed heat registers in the two bedrooms that have dampers on them, so I can close down those rooms and push more air to the rest of the couch. They claimed they tried it out with those two dampers closed about half way and the coach heated up nice and even... We will see, but I suspect that is a great solution... As soon as I mentioned it to the service writer he mentioned that is a common problem on the 360 and 390's... he said he has started changing out the registers to the ones with dampers on the new units because he knows it is a problem.

Anyhow.. I get the joy of feeling that beast of a RAM tow again tonight to bring her home... hopefully the weather straightens out so we can actually get the unit to a campground for a change!
