There is an identical thread going at the moment where the person is truly wanting to add an awning to a slide out not a topper.
Mine stretches over a slide out dont know about mounting one to a slide.

Thank you
I have already ordered one
On the coachmen apex the factory added an aluminum strip like a second gutter just above the slide out leaving no room to install the topper between the slide out and roof
So I'm just trying to figure out if people removed that piece or attached the topper to it

Let us know what you end up doing with it. I was just looking at a slide topper for my Apex a few minutes ago. Which one did you go with?

I added a photo so non-apex owners can see what I'm talking about
If it's not clear enough let me know and I'll try and get a better one

I can see clearly now, sounds like a Song, anyway that looks like a "After thought" it will have to be Removed in order to mount the Topper Rail, measure to make sure the Holes from that "Hillbilly Gutter" are covered or under the New slide Topper and you have enough "Fall" for run off! Youroo!!

Bob O: That's interesting. On my 259BHSS, that drip rail was mounted a couple inches down from the roof rail. That was enough room to install my slide-topper. I guess they were not uniform on the mounting position of that rail. In your case, the rail will have to be removed and the screw holes sealed in order to install your slide-topper.

slide topper
I started the other thread about a slide topper for an Apex . I have a 249rbs on order which should be in around the end of May. I was asking if anyone had put a slide topper on an Apex. I was glad to read the post from rvee-nut that it is possible. Most on here told me there would not be enough drop to keep water from pooling. I was wondering if rvee-nut has experienced any problems with this. I was also told the factory told one person a slide topper could not be put on an Apex. This is something I want so will wait till the TT comes in and make my own decision.

My dealer never said anything to about weather or not I could do it. Looks easy to do and there was no way that I'm going to pay 1200 for them to do it
Good points. My slide out isn't a "deep slide" so I shouldn't have an issue with water pooling so I should be ok as long as I keep it as high as possible
I also read that there is a manufacturer that makes them for different degrees of run off

I contacted Coachmen about a slide topper for my unit. They discouraged me from doing it because of the lower roof line of the Apex trailers and would not provide enough slope for rain water to run off. My unit has a large (14 foot long) and deep (8 foot deep) slide. So I decided to do without, for now.
Hope yours works for your unit, I'll be following along.

I really don't see the concern with water pooling.
I realize many will put pool noodles or beach balls in to help with that but I really don't care if the the water pools on the slide topper. Better on the topper protecting things than the top of the slide out itself. You might get a bath when retracting so be careful.
I've had several longer slides in various units where the water pooled on the topper.
I've heard complaints of it stretching the vinyl but mine have always dumped the water when retracted (or raise the front/back slightly) and have always come back to shape.

Ooopppss.... My bad I was looking at Coachmens' floor plans and it says "8 Foot Wide Deep slides". Guess they meant the trailer is 8 foot wide.....

Camper70: I do have some minor pooling of water on the top of my slide topper. It doesn't hurt anything for the short while you are camping. When I have the slide out at home, I put an inflatable cushion under it to discourage the pooling. This is my third trailer with slide toppers (2 fifth wheels before this one) and all had at least one slide that pooled. The advantages of a slide topper far outweigh any minor inconvenience. Here's what my rail looks like.
