Battery cut off switch
One of the things that I miss from our Rockwood RV is the battery cut off switch that was located next to the control panel.
I want to install one and it can be around the battery someplace since it would be a much easier install there. I assume that others may have put one on? If so, what switch did you use and where did you get it.
Thx

Have you looked under your LP tanks in front of your battery? That's where most of them have been moving to.

Thanks all. I've verified there's not one near the tanks anywhere. I have ordered a switch for installation.

Too late if you ordered one already BUT I always use Perko switches. I've had them on my boats and RV's. Good quality at reasonable price.I installed 2 on my Cardinal. one for the batteries that is Off-1-2-Both and another for my converter that is just an on-off.
PERKO Inc.
Oh yea, they are all made in the good old USA
Good luck!

Perko recommends the positive side and that's what I do on both boats and my RVs.
They have some good diagrams on line and the switches come with instructions.

When I researched switches before I bought and installed mine, I saw that many people switched the negative side. I guess that would work, but I decided to go old school and switch the positive side.

Negative side is usually easier and safer to work with, but either side will work.

Battery cut off switch
Whole point is that you are breaking continuity between positive and negative side. With a switch anything inside RV that uses battery will be disabled once either + or - is broken.

Battery cut off switch
SUCCESS!
We will return our RV to storage this afternoon after being in it for a week. When we picked it up earlier this week the battery was in fact dead. I don't know why they did not install a battery cut off switch. Yesterday I successfully installed the cut off switch like WNY clipper uses. Install was no big deal. The particular cable that I bought to extend it was black. And, by buying this cable I did not have to do any cutting on the cables themselves. Therefore I installed it on the negative side so that the colors would be consistent. I just didn't want to install a black cable on the positive side (red side) and then someone in the future to think because they saw a black cable that it was negative.
I used double back tape to stick it to the frame right in front of the battery box. I also used zip ties to hold the cables together. My thought was if the double back tape didn't hold well the switch itself still couldn't go anywhere.

Congrats on your install of the battery disconnect switch!
I also installed a "BDS" on my unit too. Instead of mounting to the battery box, I mounted my switch to the frame next to the battery box. And I mounted mine on the negative side as well.

Perko does that since boats do not have chassis grounds (well, except steel ones.)
