Built myself a ladder for the bunks beds on a 273tbs
So we bought a new Catalina 273 tbs last summer and I like the triple bunks, but I was surprised that they offer absolutely no way to get in or out of the middle or top bunks. What is even worse, is that there is an upholstered trim board that goes around the outside of the bunk... exactly where you would put your hands or feet to climb into the bunks. This trim is only stapled on. So the very first time my 5 and 8 year olds decided to go to bed, they nearly tore it off (and no, they have not had too many s'mores).
I decided to build a custom ladder in order for them to get in and out of the beds so that I can stay up drinking by the fire when my 5 year old needs "one more" trip to the potty at night! I thought I would attach a few pics of it and see what else you folks have made to assist in getting in and out of bunks.
Basically, I just used a bunch of 1 1/2" PVC and measured it so the steps are approximately 10 inches apart and so that it wouldn't stick out into the way of the bathroom door. Once I glued it together, I painted it the fanciest of high gloss brown that I could find to match my interior. I think I may have a retirement job ahead of me at Forest River!
I apologize for the sideways pics. They are normal on my computer, but when I try to upload them, they get turned.
