Can we use dinette with slide in?
I've recently read several places that walking on the slide floor or sitting in the slide when it is not extended can damage the alignment of the slide. We have a 2015 Coachmen Leprechaun 220QB. We frequently pull into a truck stop or rest area overnight and don't extend the slide with the dinette. Can we do damage sitting at the table with the slide in???

Not sure what the "official" answer is, but I had my prior 5er for 13 years. It had a couch and dinette on the living room slide. We used it many times closed and DS liked to 'ride' on the couch when I put it in and out. Never had to have it realigned in 13 years.

Since the slides in motor homes often have seat belts for use while driving I think the answer is an easy No...you won't damage it.

First I have ever heard of a slide being damaged by being used while it is in. I say no. I have had multiple units with slides over the years and have never had a problem using them in or out.

In a travel trailer you should support the floor of the slide near the middle as it is raised a bit above the floor. Don't know if forest river has had problems but crossroads did. The floor would pull away from the bottom of the side walls if walked on while pulled in. We used to use two rubber door wedges under our superslide in a crossroads trailer we had because you had to walk thru the slide to get to the toilet while traveling

We don't extend our slide when we stop for lunch at rest areas and have had no problems whatsoever. Also sit at the dinette occasionally while traveling.

Have used dinette many times on our Leprechaun slide in. Would agree with seat belt answer making sense that they are intended to be used for seating when driving.
Could contact Coachmen to verify. I will continue using mine, its been four years now.

In my TT the dinette slide is supported against the outer wall when in the "in" and "out" positions. So we sit on it when in the "in" position. When in motion there is no support except for the slide rails so I wouldn't sit on it while moving it in or out. Depending on how much weight is on it, it could bend the rails.

I would have to agree. There is no point in wearing seat belts with the slide extended out. These slides are also on rollers to give the slide floor stability.

We don't extend our slides for quick lunch stops and our 70 pound dog rides on the sofa most of the time. We've never had problems with any of our units.

The only warning I have see said when the Slide Is In Do Not Step On The Edge of the slide it is NOT supported by anything.

There was a person the other day that said they were looking @,,, I think a TT on a sales lot,,, and the salesman told them they should not sit on the sofa when the slid was in ??? I am guessing sofas in TTs do not have seatbelts !!!
Not sure what good a dinette would be if you could not use it when it was in ???

Makes sense on a motorhome since the seatbelts are there, but I'm wondering about a travel trailer? Had planned on occasionally sleeping on the slide for quick stopovers. We have a Rockwood MiniLite (2504s) with dinette slide.

If the same components and mechanisms are used in a MH or TT, it shouldn't make any difference.
