Can't tighten awning knobs 2016 283RKS Catalina

I have an electric awning on my 2016 283RKS Catalina. I can not tighten the knobs on my awning, so when it is out and it is raining one side drops allowing water to run off. I tried to removed them so I could drill a dimple in the arm to rest the knobs threaded end in to hold it, but I could not remove them. They appear to have a retaining washer on them. does anyone have a similar problem and how did you fix it.

It's supposed to do that, when the weight of the water in the awning gets too much it dumps to one side.

If you want it to dump to the opposite end, loosen the knob on the other arm a bit.

I understand what the OP is saying. I have the same problem with my W&P awning. I usually try to have one corner lower than the other but have a heck of a time getting the knob tight enough to hold that position. Mine turn just fine and the threads are free but it just doesn't apply enough clamping force to hold. I have decent grip in my hands so am pretty sure that someone with lesser hand strength would have even more of a problem. I haven't looked in to bigger knobs but would guess that would help a lot.

Friction is your friend.

A fiber washer under the tension knob may help .

X2 you are probably correct that would help. Like the other poster said, it's supposed to automatic dump the water. Your other alternative would be to set your awning up with the tie down straps and / or the bracket pole set up and set the tilt of the awning more firmly as many others have done
