mchat1: DH said there were quite a few of those screws, one on top of the other. I like your idea about moving the bunk height up higher to make it a shelf instead of a bunk.

blwnsmoke: Our carpet on the stairs is beginning to look a little ragged. Wish we had some extra of the flooring in the rest of the Chaparral to replace it

Came that way. Believe it or not they are actually hard wood steps. I was suprised also the first time I saw them.
