Ours measures 29" from the plywood under the mattress to the bottom of the top bunk. I have read that some are removing the top bunk, so I'm betting it would not be difficult to just raise it to the height you need.

You might Consider removing the bottom bunk until the little one is in a bed? Looking at it it didn't appear it would be too hard to do
