I wonder if it is a holder for a remote? Maybe your missing a remote for the fan/vent or AC? I mean, perhaps the remote has a mate to this snap fitting on the back.

Could be a temperature sensor for heat and air conditioning

Can't really see it good on my bad computer monitor. Just a guess, but does the middle part twist or pop out, like to a 12 volt power socket or usb charger?

No, it does not pop out or twist. If I had to hazard a guess, I think it may be a thermostat sensor but that's just a shot in the dark

You guys are good.

It does seem they could find a more efficient/pretty way to mount/secure it.

That's it, thanks for solving that, guys are good!!!!

Oddly though, our thermostat seems to only have one zone. I'll have to play more with it

Have you asked the dealer or person you bought it from?

If you don't have documentation on the stat...you can get the model number and look on Colemans website for the documentation. It appears(by comparison to WM's post) that it's a 2 stage heat pump??? The model# will clear that up.

Thanks for all the replies....to answer some of the questions.....

1. I did ask the dealer but to my surprise he was not 100 sure what it was either.

2. I am sure there is documentation on the model of thermostat however, since we just purchased it literally yesterday I have a TON of stuff to go through

Not to be more negative than normal, but the RV type documentation is very general, however accessory and appliance manuals are more specific. My suggestion is to read them first so you won't be so numb.

A temp detector for a zone, can be or heat, usually one per a/c unit.

That's your room sensor for the thermostat

I just bought a Brookstone 395RL during our walk through they were very specific that it is the bedroom temp sensor and not to cover it. If you have dual AC you have dual zone thermostat. I agree the manuals are not very helpful. That's why I joined the forums.
