Flip Up Countertop?

Hello,

We have an Apex Nano 193bhs. The kitchen can be a little limited, so I'm thinking about adding a flip up countertop extension.

Has anyone added any type of extension to their countertop?

I installed the Camco flip up extension, not bad but the single folding brace doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. I'll put boxes and other lightweight stuff on it, but nothing remotely heavy, hot or messy!

Well, after some thinking and browsing Amazon, I was able to gather the required materials to make my own flip up countertop/cutting board.

The board is 18"x24"x3/4". I drill two holes per side on the microwave frame and reused the top hole already existing.Click image for larger version

Hey Bruce, I couldn't get the link to work. Seems like you had the same idea.

I don’t know why the link doesn’t work for you. Try typing “My Windjammer Countertop Mod” into the search.

I just bumped my thread to the top of the Rockwood Forum so you can find it that way.

That looks pretty darn good! Congrats!
I'd suggest putting a bit of a radius on those outside corners - they will hurt if you walk into them.

How tough is it to get things in and out of the microwave?

So that is the trade off. I just crouch down and can access the microwave without issue. The brackets do not block or inhibit the function of the microwave I'm anyway.

We really pay attention to what we eat, so we are normally preparing real food in the TT and either using to cook top inside or the Blackstone griddle outside. The addition of the countertop was a must need for us.
