So my leaf springs are flat, in an apparent overloading situation, although having been to the scales multiple times I have a hard time believing we were overloaded, we are in need of new leaf springs.

I am considering going from the OEM 1750# springs to the 2000# but 1 of the repair shops I called said I would regret that b/c the trailer would bounce too much on the sturdier springs. Anyone have any input on this?

Also, is there anything else that would be good to do while I'm getting the new springs that doesn't add a lot of weight (don't want to loose too much useful load) but improves handling and/or reliability?

Have you contacted the dealer or manufacturer? What year is the trailer? Maybe the wrong springs were installed or were faulty and you really just need 1750# springs.

Do your scale weights concur with the use of 1750# springs?

Do your scale weights come in at or less than what the sticker on the side of the TT states for max load?

It's not unusual for a leaf spring to be "flat" if loaded to the design limits of the axle. When you hit a bump the spring will flex down a certain amount and on the rebound it will flex up a similar amount.

Unless the springs have a permanent arc with ends lower than center your springs are merely loaded to their design limit, not overloaded.

The scale weights come in right at GVWR. We loaded up with everything one trip and went to the scales to see where we were at and it was max to the lb. Generally, we take less stuff so I'm pretty sure we have never been overloaded but...

I have seen several posts from others with the same model and some with the same make, Coachmen, that have had the same problems so I think it's an issue but they, Coachmen, can always say I overloaded it at SOME point and it appears that I have.

I am thinking that I will step up the springs to 2000# for some buffer, but I don't want the ride to suffer. The guy at the shop said I don't want to do that because the trailer will "bounce" too much.

I have the same model, 2012. I replaced mine the first year I had it because of flatten springs. Also check above your tires to see if your rubbing up against the plastic membrane. If I recall the spring shop I took it to mentioned the same thing about the springs. If there to stiff they would rattle the cabinets off the walls. I did go with a better quality spring and 7 years later there fine.

The tires were hitting the top of the wheel well. I sprayed some rubberized spray coating over the scrapes till I could get home and fix the problem. I'm glad to hear your experience with the same model and springs! That's the kind of help this forum is good for!! I've decided to to upgrade to 2000# springs barring any late revelations.
