Freedom Express, 2011, Slide out issue

So, first time to post an issue, hopefully someone can offer some insight. My single slide out does not want to, uh, slide out. It's electric and the motor seems to run fine, the issue is that it seems to be hung up on one side. I'm new to the RV community, we bought it used but in very good shape... this is not the first time I've deployed the slide, just the first time it's gotten "hung up".

Not sure about the 2011, but on mine, there is an axle the width of the slide with a gear on each end that engages a toothed track on each side of the slide. This insures that both sides of the slide move in sync. Check the gear on the side that appears to not move. It could be jammed or loose on axle.

Would need to remove screws that hold it up...Not a big deal to cut a three sided door and use black Gorilla tape to reseal the cuts.......just make sure the hinge is the forward facing side......a lot of dealers do it this way....

Tmac - If you have a conventional electric slide (not the Swintech dual motor electric drive), there is a square tube cross piece that extends between the two gear drives for the slide. This keeps them in sync so each side of the slide travels at the same speed. At each end of this tube, it connects to the gear assembly with a shear bolt. It's likely one of these bolts has sheared off. You can get replacement bolts at Lowes (get the same size/grade bolt). If this is the problem, you need to determine why the bolt sheared. Maybe something is jamming the movement of the slide.
You shouldn't need to cut into anything to see this mechanism. Just look under the slide, adjacent to the frame beam.

Is the unit level, mine would hang up if way out of level.

EDIT.. From your post on 10/26/16
"Hello everyone, we recently purchased our 2011 Freedom Express and I just noticed that the slide appears to be off set, is this a track issue that i can fix or is this a "take-it-in-to-the-shop" issue?"

Did you ever fix this issue? Sounds like it is still hanging up, if you did not get the slide squared up, you probably sheared a a shear pin.

So... thanks everyone for the useful tips. Unfortunately, water damage has rotted the wood. No worries, getting her fixed and will take proper care of her.
