Freedom Express Ladder?

Curious if anyone has added a ladder to Freedom Express? I have a 310BHDS and would like to add ladder to make it easier to perform maintenance, clean off slides,etc... Camping World sells one but not sure about install. Any experience?

I have a fold-able ladder I use. It was a bit pricey to have the dealer do it. I was told there are brackets (maybe called something else) preinstalled in the trailer, but I have no schematic to know where they are or how to properly install so I am not going that route.

I asked our dealer if one could be added to our Freedom Express Liberty and he told me Coachmen said yes he could. Cost would be 250.00.

I received the wall diagram for our 229TBS and purchased a ladder from Etrailer.com for $166. I also have a callapsable ladder that I carry in the basement.

Steve can send you the wall backing drawing for your unit. He covers Coachmen units. sbrandenberger@forestriverinc.com

Thanks all. I checked with my dealer and it was just over $600. $250 for ladder plus install. I think I'm going to do either the Werner or Little Giant 22ft multi ladder. I can use to access camper roof, slides, etc...plus use at home. Not sure why campers don't come wth ladders standard as its a must that you get onto the roof routinely.

Does that 13 foot get you up onto the roof easy enough?

Yes it does. I think the height of the trailer is 10ft.

Groupon has a special on these telescoping ladders. $159 is not a bad price for the smaller one (10.5').

If you end up getting the details for adding a ladder to the 310BHDS please send me a message, I would appreciate a copy.

Home Depot has the Werner 22ft multi ladder on sale for $99. I can get on and off the roof now with it in the step ladder (a frame) setup. Can also use around site and at home in different configurations. Dealer wanted just over $600 to install (parts and labor) the hard mounted rear ladder. That, and they said the bracing was already in place. Thanks for all the advice and info!

I just last week installed a rear ladder on my 310BHDS. I e-mailed Coachmen and asked if there were backers built into my unit. Yes, the 310BHDS does have the backers installed at the factory. They sent me a diagram of where the backers are located. That paper is out in the camper, I will get it, see if I can scan it to share. According to the schematic there are two (2) 2x4's turned sideways in the rear wall just for ladder mounting. I bought the Carlson Stromberg brand from Amazon--$86. The hardest part of the installation is holding the ladder in it's proper place while you determine how much to cut off of the top railing mount. This is necessary because of the curve of the roof. Having someone to hold the ladder while you determine how much to cut off and make a mark on the railing helps.

Would you mind posting those or sending them my way? I'd love to have them for my 320BHDS.

That's the way to go. easy to store and has multi-use instead of just on the trailer. Easier to use also. I have one and it's handy as hell and easy to use.

I have a brand new, never mounted, black ladder that fr accidentally sent me. I'd sell cheap but shipping makes it cost prohibitive.
Are you going to the NC rally?

Thanks dcheatwood but I have already got the ladder mounted. I am not overly happy with this one as it is a bit narrow and is only about six inches from the back wall. I'm not exactly a small person so it feels rather small to me. I made the initial climb up on the roof and it wasn't so bad. My eleven year old g'son says that he will climb up there to sweep off the slides for me but I'm not too cool with him being up there. I know, when I was 11 I was climbing trees, swing sets, water towers, etc. But it's different with the BOYZ (three g'son's).
