Gas problem on frig.

We have a problem when we try to use the LP gas on frig. You can hear the gas running but the frig. doesn't cool. The trailer smells of gas . Any help would be great!

If you are getting a gas smell in your trailer shut down the gas and air out the trailer. Once you are sure the trailer is aired remove the panel on the back of the fridge and check all the fittings this includes following the gas line from the fridge compartment to the underside of the trailer making sure there are no loose fittings or holes. You didn't say what rig you have. let us know what you find.

After you fix the fridge you might want to find out why there was no warning of LP leakage sounding off from the detector.

Don't mess with a propane leak!! If your not 100% confident in trouble shooting the propane system, take it to a facility that can fix the problem. I also agreed, something is amiss with your detector and this needs attention too!

Did your fridge work before? Is this first time you tried it this season? Maybe you are smelling the burning of propane, not raw propane. Check for insect nests in your fridge flu.

We also have a 17FQ but can't say we've ever "heard" the gas running for the fridge. Usually we start the fridge and listen for the clicking sound of the igniter. If everything is running correctly it's several clicks then a quiet "foom" as the gas lights. At the start of the season it can take awhile for gas to purge any air out of the propane line.

Having said that... you do hear gas running when the stove burners are on. Any chance the knobs are slightly on?

I agree with others that anytime you smell raw propane turn the tank valve off and have it checked out by a professional.
