LP gas hook-up

My current RV has an LP manifold with a spare port to add a hookup for outside gas grill. What would I need to buy to accomplish this? Here is a pic of the manifold.Click image for larger version

You need to either buy a propane hose with male fitting on one end and quick disconnect on the other the proper length to reach your BBQ or install a propane quick disconnect at the manifold and a hose of the proper length with male quick disconnect fitting on the BBQ I'm saying propane quick disconnect because they look just like air fittings but the air fittings are not the same size and will not work on propane.

Don't you mean female for the existing manifold connection? Looks like a cap on there now.

I gave him that option female quick disconnects come with male or female connections depending on the application

I just thought a permanent connection at the manifold with a hose routed to a more convenient location with the quick disconnect for a separate grill hose would be more convenient. Maybe not.

Yes you do see a camp on the manifold and the cap is screwed onto an adapter. The adapter has male pipe threads on one end, probably 1/4" NPT, and the other end is male JIC (Joint Industrial Council), either a #4 or #6. The JIC fitting allows a hose with a female JIC fitting on it to be connected. Removing this adapter will allow what "SeaDog" described. There may be another problem. The gas at this manifold has most likely been through the regulator which reduces the gas pressure. My understanding is that most portable grills/stoves use a higher pressure gas such as the little bottles. There are other posts on this forum that can explain it better.

First and foremost !! Find a gas grill the runs on "LOW" pressure or designed for RV hook up. Most grills are designed to run off the high pressure of a stand alone tank and not the regulated pressure on your RV. There are kits out there now to convert standard grills to work on the low pressure, you'll just have to research them.

So what happens trying to operate the grill with regulated pressure?

I added an outside propane connection to my camper. I put a tee in the line so that I could add a high pressure regulator for the outside connection and keep the low pressure regulator for inside. This allows me to connect anything I want to as the high pressure regulator is adjustable. I do about all of my cooking outside on a high pressure stove which is much better than the low pressure inside stoves. Click image for larger version
