Mattress problem

We have a Coachman 336 TSIK model. Our mattress started to smell something like mole and some how stained the wood frame it sits on. Just one side of the bed. When you touch the stain on the wood frame it smelled like mole and felt wet or moist . What I am wondering is has anybody else had these symptoms or a problem like this. No moisture under the bed or on the top of the mattress. No water in the pass thru under the bed. Stumped. Thanks for any input.

If you camp in a cold environment, the moisture from your body will easily penetrate the mattress and condense when it hits the cooler bed frame/deck. Not sure of the configuration of your unit, but an unheated storage area under the bed will cause the bed deck to be cold. The amount of condensation will increase if you have a high metabolism at night. To prevent this, you need to insulate the bottom of the warm mattress from the cold bed deck. A sheet of 1/2" construction foam works great. You are going to need to take the mattress out and treat it and start over.

Thank you we will try this. One thing how would we treat the mattress. And yes we have had a lot of rain during our travels this year.
