New to Coachmen ... just bought

We just bought a new non-current 2011 21bh with triple bunks... we are coming up from a much cheaper quality built Sportmen Classic. I very much like reading all the coachmen catalina posts. I will be tightning plumbing right away. I am impressed by the overal quality compared to what we had.

Has anyone attempted to install the hot water bi-pass for winterizing? Anything else I should check out before we take possession ?

congrats

cant answer the bypass question because I live in Florida which doesnt need winterizing.

when I did my walk thru - the only thing I noticed out of place was a few scratches / gashes in the face of the cabinetry - I took delivery cause I didnt want to drive back two hours to pick it up and figured I was going to do much worse since I had a 5 year old - about 5 months later I had my daughters bike in the camper and sure enough I put a big ole scratch in the wood and was like oh well I just added to what I already had LOL

Have them hook water up to the city side and fill some in the fresh water tank to make sure the pump works as well

just do a full systems check and dont forget the paper work for the 2nd years warranty also - if they do not give you that paperwork - it can be downloaded here on forest river forums and sent in

you pay a little for the 2nd year

it is a forest river thing - let me see if I can find it and post it here for you

I do not see coachman on the list but if Forest River makes it then I dont see why they wouldnt offer it - Here is a link to the paperwork - http://www.disruptiveweb.com/images/warranty_addon.pdf

Might be worth a call to the Factory and see if they offer it for your model - got nothing to lose

by your signature has new owners spelled owerns LOL

FR offers a 2nd year factory warranty on their RVs. but apparently they don't on the new companies they've acquired, like Prime Time, Shasta and Coachmen.

Thanks ... I am looknig to add some drawers under the bed and dining seats too. I will be calling the 'factory' anyways to try and get some cabinet doors- no harm to ask about warranty too.
Can't wait to get it back home to start adding some mods !

seems to be a trend when large RV manufacturers buy out bankrupt or closing brands.
Jayco has a standard 2 year warranty on their rigs, but after they bought Starcraft, they kept Starcraft's 1 year warranty.
even after the Starcraft brand became clones of Jayco's rigs.
you can by the same exact trailer from either brand and you'll only get a 1 year warranty, if it has Starcraft on the side.

at least FR is only doing that to the newly acquired brands, that aren't clones of their own brands.
