Our new Chaparral 360IBL! And our Tow Beast

Hey guys! Friday was a special day for us as we traded in our 6month old Travel trailer and upgraded to a new fifth wheel. We had such a great time using our TT all of 6 times that we wanted something a little more "homier feeling" interior. We love everything about our new trailer. The fit and finish really suprised us moving up from a TT. Plus it's nice to have G rated tires under it and a bike rack integrated on the back.

My truck sits perfectly level unloaded but squats a little under the 2200lb pin weight (1.5"). I already have airbags on order and will be installing them Friday. Towing it is SOOO much nicer and controlled than pulling my previous travel trailer that weighted 6000lbs less!

Congratulations on you new 5th wheel. We have a 2015 360IBL and it is a nice unit. My issues have been the windows on either side of the couch and the window across from the bathroom leaking due to no weep holes and the front cap(ours is brown) is fading. The dealer has replaced the windows and they actually made weep holes and the front cap is being painted as we speak. All under warranty. It tows great as we had travel trailer before this. What a difference. Enjoy.;

Thanks for the reply! Do you have pictures of the Windows before and after their replacement? I'd like to see if Coachmen fixed the problem on 2016 models or if this is an issue I could end up with as well.

I have the before pictures. The after pictures I will have after I pick up the unit from the body shop. Sorry for the direction of the pictures but they are ok on my pc but are not in the proper direction.

We've had our 360 for a year now but didn't start using it until May because we were looking for the right deal on the right truck. It's one of the first ones with the dark cap. So far we've been to 9 different state parks or rv parks and still love it. Haven't counted up the days or total mileage but think it's around 50 days, have no guess on the mileage yet. On our last trip DH was having problems getting the valves on the tanks to shut all the way so he'll be looking at that as soon as the weather warms up. We've been through some pretty tough rain storms and it's weathered them well. I have been meaning to check our windows for the weep holes but keep forgetting!

Keep us posted on your trips and hope to see ya on the road somewhere!

Did any of your windows have weep holes? I notice some big differences between your RV an ours. I guess they moved to larger rear side windows in 2016. Also, it appears that almost all of my windows have the weep holes. I didn't see any on a few windows. But only 2 or 3 of them. Interesting. I hope yours gets figured out and resolved

We have had our 360ibl for just over a year. I have not had the issues with my windows leaking. The windows that doesn't have weep holes are the ones that do not open up. One at the stairs going up the the bedroom area and the other 2 by the ends of the couch. I am interested in the G rated tires. What size and brand? I am thinking about putting G rated on my when the time comes. Nice looking truck too!

Good to know Coachmen is correcting the issue. I have a 2016 390QSMB with a white front cap like in the OP's pics. The 2016 brochure specifically calls out the "white cap that resists fading". I didn't notice the 2015s all had brown fronts.

Thanks for posting the side window pics. My 390QSMB has the same windows. I'll take a look at mine to see if it has drain holes. If not, I may be adding them.

So I removed the top bunk from the bunkhouse. Took all of 10minuted. A few pointers and steps if you plan on doing this yourself. It really makes the room feel much larger and allows easy clearance of you TV when the slides are in. Our daughter loves it. This is of course assuming you don't need the upper bunk.

1. Remove the total of two screws that hold the 2 pieces of OSB down

2. Remove the 2 2'x64" OSB boards from RV

3. Press down firmly on the fascia board below the bunk, it is simply attached with finishing tacks and will pop off with pressure (if you do not remove this panel first, you will not be able to get to the screws in the frame)
4. Remove the 4'x64" facia board from RV

5. Remove all 8 3" long wood screws (#10 square drive) from the wood frame bracing perimeter and the entire platform will drop (start with the front 2, rear 2 and then side 4 screws)

6. Remove frame from RV

Done

I also installed LED taillights, replacing the oem incandescent dim lights. Probably the single safest investment you can make aside from better tires. A total of $50 for the lights and 30mins to install.

I'm also installing these above the fenders on the trailer. They will help me see those dark corners when turning on unlit streets. They are only about 4"x6", solar powered, with an off switch.

And this was also put in for security

Very nice LEDs.

That's one of the few things I was disappointed in with the trailer. All the interior lights are LEDs, but the exterior look like they took them off my 13 year old 5er I just sold.

For $50, I'll be doing this soon.

Do the new LED tail lights also illuminate the license plate?

Yes, there is an additional down facing LED for the plate

Here are the lights if anyone is interested.
LED RV Camper Trailer Stop Turn Brake Tail Lights / License Light / Black Base https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LA59QZO..._8fcRwbGT6E24E

Just remember this wiring: White-White, Black-Red, Brn-Gray

The wiring info on the back of the light is wrong.

Like how the room looks without the top bunk. When we removed both from our bunkroom to make it a scrapbook room, we found something kind of neat (or odd?). Under the bottom mattress the board was cut into two pieces. One covered the top of the drawers. The other had a hole drilled in it to lift it up and you could use that room for storage. Would be hard to get to if the top bunk was still on. We have one of the first 360ibls made so not sure about subsequent models.

Thanks! I had seen your post on that and thought about moving the brace back and adding a hinge to make it like the storage under the master bed. I could even make the drawers shorter and inclose them while putting a liftable lid over the front half with hydraulic arms.
