PANIC!

2017 Coachmen Chaparral 5th Wheel
In the 3rd night of a 4 night stay. Just went to dump grey tank shower and kitchen sink water and the valve wont open. Handle pulls out about 3" and even with all of my 250#s pulling with both hands I can't budge. Solid cover underbelly.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hello, you need to drop the underbelly to access the valves. I bet the cable is snagged somewhere.

Thank you. No, I'm an idiot because I trusted the idiot lights that said the tank was 2/3 full. This our 5th trip and already they are junk.
The valve must have been open enough to drain our shower and vanity water for the past 2 nights. I'm pulling my brains out thinking the gate valve is hung up. Thanks to a fellow camper and the campsite ranger, they put the "brakes" on me and wished me up.
All good.
Thank you.

So where was the water going? On the ground or do you have sewer hook-up at your site.

We are at a campground with full hook up. I'm an idiot, but not stupid.

We love a happy ending.
Glad your full 250# didn't pull off the handle!
Thanks for the follow up!

Oh yeah, anyone among us who hasn't done something "dumb" around
our RVs hasn't been camping!

Happy Trails!

Make sure the black is closed until at least 2/3 full. Last day, let the grey fill to rinse your hose after you dump the full black.

Keep some silicone spray handy.Use it liberally on the cable when you have it pulled.Work the handle in and out several times. My Chappy handles stick badly if I don't. I have had to replace one valve because the cable broke off the handle end.

Best addition to my fifth wheel was a twist on gate valve at the discharge port. There's an entire thread dedicated to gray tanks open or closed. I prefer mine closed and dump as necessary. With that said my Coachman mentions nothing about 2 gray tanks but has a secondary valve tucked by the frame just past the sewer hose. It drains the from the front sink. I leave that open and let the new valve catch it. I mention this because it wasn't pointed out and I only happened to see it.
